  • Space Mountain As You've (Probably) Never Seen It.

This past Sunday, Victoria's youngest daughter Sasha went to Disneyland with 24 close friends. (Somehow, the Blue Bayou accomodated all 25 of them!) They went on Space Mountain and halfway through the ride, it stopped. The lights came on and they sat for a bit. Then their "rocket" very slowly completed the circuit while the lights remained on. Then they were let off. The ride quickly returned to normal operation and they were allowed to jump ahead of the line and experience a "normal" ride.
Here's a photo of Space Mountain with the lights on (That's Sasha in the very front):
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

    Cool picture!

(I have seen it with the lights on a few time, once through the backdoor while working backstage )

I REALLY hope you got more photos then that..... WHen you get a rare opertunity such as stopping in space mountain with the lights on, your supposed to snap as many photos of the inside as possible. Why waste a picture on your friends and random people. You can do that any day of the week....but the inside of space mountain is a treat that few lucky...err....unlucky (take your pick), people get to see. Next time, i expect more pictures with less people.
........but i don't want to be totaly mean, so I will say good job on at least getting 1 photo.

These are pics pulled from www.mouseinfo.com . Just thought I'd put them here, if anyone hasn't seen.

Before confusion happens, those circle things are NOT loops of track. They are light stands, to be used for Rock-It Mountain.

                    Interesting...

Agh. A couple years ago (before it closed down) I was riding Space Mountain and the lights turned on. It was the ugliest :!$#%: I had ever seen. There are sidewalks that are better looking than the inside of Space Mountain.

CMs had to walk up the stairs and push our rocket down the rest of the coaster. It was pretty funny watching everyone have the time of their lives being pushed by randoms. Though those pictures make it look A LOT cooler than it actually was.

That was a couple of years ago, though. Those pics are what the inside with the lights on looks like now. I'm not sure if it's still as ugly as you describe it, again I didn't take those pics.

                              OK Matt... are you listening?
You got a bunch of people here who would love to do SM with the lights on. I'll bet they might even be willing to pay an extra buck or two for the opportunity. Might be an interesting addition to a tour or a special RSVP event. Wanna make some fanatics happy and drop a little profit to the bottom line?
