  • The Haunted mansion movie remake

It's been established that the Haunted Mansion movie wasn't so great, but I think that a new HM movie should come out despite the other one's failure.
The new HM movie would not be about someone discovering the mansion, but be about the story behind it.

    time period-mid or late 1800's

Place- New orleans(this movie would be based on DL's HM)

The rough story is that Master Gracey is a pirate but every one in society thinks he's just a filthy rich sea captian. But heres a detailed view of the opening scene-The begining of the movie would be him returning to his mansion after a long sea voyage. he enters the mansion with a box in his hand and goes up the stairs and into a hallway similar to the one in the begining of the ride and approches a grandfather clock, he takes out a key and uses it to open a secret passage way into a circular room. he sets the box on a round table in the middle of the room and opens the box. inside this box is a crystal ball(see where i'm going) it quickly lights up into a bright green color and a woman's face appears inside the ball.(thats how madame Leota comes to the mansion)

so give me your feed back and help me continue the story(theres more to come)

I do think they should give this a chance and completely elimate all the evidence of the previous movie, like the hulk

Now, I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic!

I'd rather they drop all the "Master Gracey" stuff if they were to do another movie. But yeah, I think setting it in the past (late 1800s or early 1900s) would be a good idea.

I am not sure, I can't really think of a good idea for this movie but that's obviously why I am not a writer but the only thing I beg them to not do again is hire some generic movie star (sorry eddie, your days are done) but perhaps hire some new faces.

here's a link to a podcast storyteller thing that tells you what the original backstory of the HM is(it's the real deal)
listen to the player on the right.

It's really not the original backstory though...
All the Master Gracey/Gracey Manor stuff originated from the cast members.

'Course if the movie was set in the time period of the Mansion's builder/owner it wouldn't really be haunted yet, would it? I likes the ghosts. In any case, as it has been stated, it would be nice to have a movie to replace the Eddie Murphy garbage in the public consciousness...

You took my idea pianoman! I've been in the process of re-writing it for a long time!

Although, my idea was different. Did you ever hear the song and stoy of the Haunted Mansion with Ron Howard? I thought of going that way and setting it in the 60s. It's just the Grim Grinning Ghosts song. I hear it and it makes me think of the Monkees, a little. Plus, the Haunted Mansion section of the fireworks show is so well adapted, it gave me a couple of ideas.

                      and I don't sleep
                      Not even in my dreams...

I also liked the movie. It's my kids favorite and he's watched it a million times. I'm not a big fan of Eddie Murphy but him and the movie grew on me.

                            What an incredibly bad idea.
