  • Diane will be there!!!

According to the press release just posted by Darkbeer, Diane Disney will be there on the 17th!

Sunday, July 17, Disneyland celebrates its actual 50th anniversary with a day-long series of special events highlighted by a heartwarming rededication ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at 10:00am, featuring Mickey Mouse, Michael D. Eisner (chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company), Robert Iger (CEO-elect and president of The Walt Disney Company), Art Linkletter (Host of the Disneyland opening day live TV broadcast in 1955) and Walt Disney's eldest daughter, Diane Disney Miller.
 I am very excited that a Disney family member will be there!! I know so many MiceChatters have wished for this too. And now it will happen.

Maybe Roy will be their too...since it seems that the Disney Company and Roy Disney/ Stanley Gould mended their differences earlier today.

After what you posted about Roy's truce with the board, I wonder if he will attend as well?

Suppossedly, this race is his last one- afterwards he is retiring, so I don't think he is going to miss it.

Unfortunate timing to be sure- but since he is no longer on the board, I can't really begrudge his choice. He has been working pretty hard and now that the lawsuit has been dropped, maybe he can actually relax and enjoy himself. He will be there in spirit, I am sure.

Hmmm, Diane is agreeing to be there during the same ceremony as Michael Eisner, and I doubt she's going to boo him. I wonder if people will follow Diane's example...

I think if people booed Michael Eisner in front of Diane Disney on the 50th it would be a disgrace!

I am not booing anyone on the 17th, no matter how much I dislike them. Just too tacky. I hope all fans respect this important day in company history and act accordingly.

                        Totally right!

I won't get to be there, but I hope nobody does anything to ruin the occasion!
It is wonderful Diane is going to be there. I didn't know about Roy having something as important as that sailing, so I feel better about his day. I had felt so bad for him not being there.
Goin around the world...and back to Disneyland!

...and the Mouseketeers, who performed on opening day (cut from the DVD version!) - - they have been completely ignored this whole anniversary, and it's THEIR 50th as well!!!

That Julie Andrews is missing on this press release is telling in that it indicates/suggests the Company did not include an appearance on July 17th in her overall deal for duties as Official Ambassador for Disneyland's 50th - - lending credence to the speculation that the 17th was not considered important by marketing execs initially.
