  • I bet that Roy will be there for July 17th

Now that the lawsuit is over, I bet that Roy Disney and Stanley Gold will be there. I am glad. I would not be the same without them. :ap:

Nah. Actually, Roy has a personal yacht race to attend. I'm not kidding. He is racing his yacht in lieu of being at Disneyland for its 50th Anniversary.

Roy E. Disney, a Transpac fixture long before he became the record holder, says his 15th race this summer will be his last. He is retiring from racing, selling his fourth Pyewacket, a Reichel/Pugh maxZ86, and planning to go cruising with his non-racing wife, Patty.

True enough, Roy will begin the last LA to Hawaii race on his beloved "Pyewacket" early on the morning of July 17th. I saw a feature on him, his success as a yacht racer and the history of the race (which he holds a class record in btw) in the LA Times Sports section a week or so ago.
