  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

This is the name of the new Indiana Jones film fit to be released on May 22, 2008. The name is exactly the same as the Indiana Jones ride in Tokyo DisneySea with the exception of temple being replaced by kingdom. What I propose is that Disneyland should use the empty scene with the hologram rat and the hall of arrow blowing skeletons to add an entire new scene related to the new film, something in regaurds to the crystal skull itself like in Tokyo.

TheManator already started a thread about this: http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77043

And how would the Crystal Skull and its mythology make any sense at the Temple of the Forbidden Eye? It's Mara's temple. Not the Crystal Skull's.

Who says the Forbidden Eye has to remain? They could redo the ride into the Tokyo Version since the two are similar enough and then we would get those cool tokyo effects like fire rings, wind tornados, etc.

DL_CRAZE sugested only changing one scene. If they were only going to change one scene of Disneyland's Indy attraction, then it would make no sense.

As for completely changing The Temple of the Forbidden Eye to the Temple of the Crystal Skull - the retheme would be a huge undertaking. Not only would every Mara or Eye of Mara reference need to be removed from the queue (murals, hieroglyphics, saftey video, obelisk, etc), but major attraction rennovations would have to be done as well. The Hall of Promise would need to be substantially re-themed and the Cavern of Bubbling Death would need substantial changes to get ride of the huge decaying face of Mara.

Also, don't forget that Disneyland's temple facade is much different in design than Tokyo's.

If the Temple of the Forbidden Eye were to be converted into the Temple of the Crystal Skull, then they'd have a lot of unnecessary work cut out for them.

Also, according to TDR_Fan, the Oriental Land Company, the developers of Tokyo Disney, have contracts with Disney protecting their Crystal Skull theme from appearing at other Disney parks. The Crystal Skull ride theme is unique, and will remain unique to Tokyo.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

To me, the two areas that could definitely be repurposed are the room with the projection bugs and the area with the projection rats. IMO, both are a waste of space in the attraction, but also the only wasted space in the attraction.

Trying to re-theme the ride to the new Indy movie (which may not even be any good) would be extremely hard to do without pretty much gutting it. Since it's an incredibly popular attraction, I just can't see that happening.

I like the ride as a separate story from the movies
It utilizes the same characters but gives us a story that we have never sen before, it wouldn't have that same effect if they redid it to match the movie
