  • Golden ears question

I was just looking around on Ebay and someone on there was selling a first issue set of gold ears. They claimed only the first issue had mickey and the 50th logo embroidered on the front. Is this true? Are they simply glued on the front now or is it still embroidered? thx for any help!

    Re: Golden ears question

I bought mine in May and it is an embroidered applique (?sp) that is glued on. Do you have a link to the ebay auction?

We got ours May 3rd, and they look to be patches that have been glued on. Not sure what that E-bay-er is selling, maybe a load of bull?

You made me look. Mine have an embroidered patch that is apparently glued on. There is no stitching on the inside of the hat. That would be the key to determining if the eBayer has something different.

This appears to be the auction in question.

I got my hat the first day they started selling them.. therefore it is genuinely a FIRST and it is a glued on patch. So I dunno what they're tryin to do.

            Re: Golden ears question

i looked at the picture and I am sorry to say i don't know what the current ears look like at disneyland, but the golden ears I bought at WDW had a patch that was embroidered but was then glued on to the ears. unless the new ones are just stamps on the felt, I think that this seller is selling a pair of golden ears but trying to embellish it just a bit to get a higher bid. In florida the ears run about 10 dollars. am sure they run about that at disneyland and it would only be worth bidding on if you couldn't get to the park and buy a pair. who knows? maybe the ones on the 17th will have something special put on ( although I doubt they will.)

The picture of the hat on eBay looks like it has a patch. You can see shadows around the image.

rytheguy, if you're thinking of buying, I would suggest emailing the seller and asking for a pic of the INSIDE of the hat. Then you'd be able to tell for sure.

(But I think he's just trying to make more money off of something you can easily buy at Disneyland...)

Yes the auction linked in a previous post is the one in question. I don't really plan on buying them I just figured the guy was full of bull and wanted to sell his hat. Thought maybe they are all the way he described them. Basically i wanted to know what to expect when I go in Aug too. Thx for your input and advice everyone!

I emailed the seller and asked if it was glued on; he replied that it was so I told him he should update his description.

I don't know when they first went on sale, but we got ours during our trip in March. It's a patch that is glued on.

Gee. $15.05 now for ears you can buy at the park for $11.50. Maybe I should buy a truckload next time I'm there. BTW... did you also notice the seller has a set of "youth" ears for sale for $18.50?

Probably selling them to distant Disney fans who can't get to the park and buy their own. Such a pity.
