  • Pictures of Holidayland????

Does anyone out there have any good color photos of Holidayland, the short lived picnic and recreation area next to Disneyland durring the 50s and early 60s?

    Re: Pictures of Holidayland????

I'd love to see some, myself. As you said, it was indeed very short-lived, and for some unimaginable reason, film photographers back then were a little more conservative in their shooting than today's digital photographers with our 4 GB memory cards and so on. And unfortunately, people who took photos back then are now likely to be getting on in years, since we assume that most of the photos were taken by people who were medium-aged adults in the late 50s and early 60s. That means it's even less likely that photos will manage to find their way online, sadly.

I really wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time and hit a home run right where the burning town in POTC is now.

Hmm, I didn't even see anything on Yesterland about it.. Though there was this picture:

I'm guessing Holidayland is the area with the giant tent just outside the berm behind Adventureland.

      Wait! Here's one!

Yup. The tent was part of Holidayland. As I was only four or so, I don't have any pictures. I vividly remember the elephants, though. They were big!

On page 180 and 181 of The Nickel Tour, you can find nine photos, including one postcard.

I remember there was a black & white TV special that they re-ran on the Disney Channel years ago where Moochie plays Little League baseball and his team gets to go to Disneyland. Is that the one?

Very Close. It was Moochie of Pop Warner Football. There was also Moochie of the Little League, which was the baseball one, buit that was not filmed at Holidayland.

Don't forget 1958's "An Adventure in The Magic Kingdom" on the Disneyland TV show. The first part was filmed in holidayland. It was Disney Studio's "Studio Day"!

The only reason Holidayland did not work out as a land. You could not get inside Disneyland from any where in Holidayland you had to go out and go in main street.

I will try to scan some book pictures later on.

I read somewhare that there was a back entrance into Adventureland from Holidayland. It was on the Frontierland border where the bandstand once stood. (close to whre pirates is today) I dont know this is a concrete fact, but I do remember reading it once, could not say where. Does anyone have any further info about this??? I would love it if you could scan some pics for me MickyMouse. Greatly appreciated.
