I found a site recently on the Yesterland attraction Adventure Thru InnerSpace.

It's a pretty cool site. The website creator, Steve, took a lot of care putting this together. And it's just great! Lots of images.

You absolutely MUST check out his CGI DVD recreation of the ride. It's incredible!

That's one ride they should bring back to Ghosttown, ooops, I mean Tomorrowland.

The website dedicated to the Adventure through Inner Space is fantastic! There are very few sites that pay the due tribute to such great yesterland rides! Keep up the great work and it would be nice to see something for:

        The Subs
        The PeopleMover
        The Sky Way
        Country Bears
        Motor Boat Cruise
        Original Astro Orbiter
Cosmo Kramer: Well I can't go back to the public courses now! I can't! I WON'T!

I've never seen the DVD, myself, but there was a topic about it on the Snopes message boards and in a post on the second page snopes agrees with you:
I just got the "Adventure Thru Inner Space" DVD today -- it's incredible! I can't believe someone spent all the time required to render a defunct ride in such detail. It's well worth the money if you're supremely nostalgic about ATIS.

This is one of the ride I really *really* wish I could have rode back when it was around. Who knows, maybe I did and I just don't remember. Either way, it's such an awesome concept.

... not that Star Tours isn't bad. It is one of my favorites after all.

Given the current state of Tomorrowland, it might not be a bad idea to put kiosks all over the place and have guests "ride" the Adventures Thru Inner Space.

btw - Gemini, what was your old SN on mouseplanet before you changed it?
Disneyland allows me to escape the everyday stresses and routines of a Southern Californian resident.

California Adventure brings me right back to the place I was trying to avoid in the first place.

Yeah, as you might expect from someone with my moniker-de-monitor (screen name), I have been visiting atommobiles.com for years and had been eagerly awaiting the CGI recreation of Adventure thru Inner Space. I was NOT disappointed. It is a work of skill and love and devotion and geekhood extraordinaire.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much effort went into this disc. The way it was put together was outstanding. The menus were creative, and the bonus features were pretty cool. Also, ordering was completely painless. Just used PayPal and it showed up a few days later as promised.

It got me wondering: if Disney (or heck, Pixar for that matter) would ever consider producing similar DVDs themselves with other attractions? If one guy can hit a home run like this with his own equipment out of his own house, imagine what an entire team of animators and a server farm could do?

They should show the InnerSpace CGI recreation on a terminal at the 50th Anniversary display in Disneyland - - and sell it in Tomorrowland! It's that good.

That really is a great idea. They sell the E-Ticket fanzine at Disneyana on Main Street, why not sell the DVD recreation of an old classic attraction?

That's because today's Disney would want 99.9999% of the profits from the DVD and would end up laying off Steve Wesson (atommobiles' creator) after more execs get raises....

At the risk of sounding like a total commercial: buy the ATIS DVD. It made me cry the first time I watched it - it's SO good! It's apparent the painstaking time and effort that went into recreating the attraction.

Also, I have Kevin Yee to thank for the recommendation! Thank you, Kevin!

Can't wait to actually see this DVD. ATIS was one of my favorites as a kid. As much as I think Star Tours is cool, it's severely outdated and I miss ATIS terribly (even though it would be even more out of sync with the times).

If this DVD is as good as it's made out to be here, I cannot wait for technology to evolve to the point where someone could actually reconstruct all of Disneyland as it appeared in ATIS's heyday and present it to us. Imagine being able to select a decade and tour the Disneyland of that era, right down to the rides themselves. I would love to see the 70's Disneyland I knew as a kid......The Mine Train Caverns, Skull Rock, The Motor Boats.

Well, until we can find this guy....

I guess this is as close as we'll get to time travel.
"The old man's gonna knock on the sky. Listen to the sound."

                                  AP'er since 2004. Yup.....I'm one of THEM.

The technology is there now. The problem is finding people with enough time and resources to do it.

that was the best ride...the spiel...the cars...i really believed as a small child i was shrinking , when I figured the whole thing out it was a cool make-out ride, even then the entire atmoshpere was surreal. The recources are in Eisners pocket, and time is money, his.

I can hardly wait for the CGI version of Superstar Limo. It has taken longer to make than the ride was open.the preview is awesome. It made me cry the first time i saw it. And the cutout of Cher looks so lifelike.
