Opening early?

So, again, going to Disneyland this Thursday for my birthday, and looking forward to enjoying the park in the off-season.

It's been awhile since I've attempted to go to the park first thing in the morning at opening, as I want to have breakfast at the Carnation Cafe, I think I may go and get a birthday button as well (my first one ever.. and at the ripe old age of 25). Figured it be funny.

Anyway, the park doesn't open till 10 am (boo!!) but I know last time I went on a weekday the park actually opened about 20 minutes or so earlier than its opening time. Does this still happen on occasion, or is it normal that mainstreet opens earlier, as they slowly start opening rides, etc?

Thanks for any tips, I'd love to have the most time in the park possible.

I know yesterday they opened Main Street 15 minutes before "Rope Drop", but that would be about all you would get.

Thanks so much! Does rope drop consist of letting people into the different lands, but mainstreet is already open? Does that mean carnation cafe is already open and serving and taking guests as well?

Just get there earlier than official opening time. An hour or so.

Yeah, thats what im planning on doing, i really want to have breakfast at the carnation cafe, but then i figure i could also do breakfast at la brea bakery...

Main St. used to always open a 1/2 hour before rope drop. Does that not happen anymore?

*fingers crossed* i'll be getting there around 9:30 or so just to be safe and ahead of any breakfast rush!
