Re: Thanksgiving Day Buffet in the Grand Ballroom

I am seriously considering this option. Afterall I would know in plenty of time to cancel out of Hooks Pointe at 8:30!
I took a look on the web and saw some pictures of past buffets, and I have to admit it looks like quite the experience, I will be so close it would be a shame to not experience it.
Hey Wolfy, take good care of Pirate Mickey, he and his whole family will be floating on air with their good news of getting into the Club!!!

I am so glad to see this thread, I must have been sleeping and missed it when Pirate Mickey posted this thread. I am staying at the DLH (checking in tomorrow, checking out Sunday, which is also my bday). I was able to make reservations at Hooks Pointe, which does have a special Thanksgiving meal offered, but would have LOVED to have experienced this buffet. Rats, see if you snooze you loose!

I can understand paying that kind of money for a very special meal at a place like the Napa Rose, but a buffet? I am guessing that they will serve turkey, ham and prime rib, shrimp and crab legs, smoked salmon, a wide variety of side dishes, a salad bar, a dessert bar with some very nice pastries and cakes and pies, a variety of fresh fruits, 2 or 3 choices of soups perhaps.

Anyway, this sounds a lot like the mothers day buffet we did this year at one of our favorite local (non-chain) restaurants: $26.99 per person. I understand that you will pay more for the Disney experience, but sheesh! No wonder we always eat off property.

Yeah, I was thinking that myself, but afraid to be the first to mention it.

I'm thinking it's a Character meal. But Knotts Berry Farm's Thanksgiving Buffet is over 20.00 cheaper, and has the Snoopy character....plus I think you get free admission to the Christmas Crafts thing.

The other buffet in the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel is also cheaper, too, than Disneyland's.

Maybe you are paying for the Ballroom itself, and the cost of overhead? But a big impersonal Ballroom wouldn't appeal to me. I like something a little bit more intimate like Five Crowns, or that type of setting.

That's just me though, and hey, if someone else were paying, of course, I'd high-tail it to that Ballroom at once!

Well, there's always Knotts Berry Farm. I did a thread about the two Thanksgiving Buffets at Knotts. It's in the 'Non-Disney Parks' section ??? I think....

In any case, I do believe Mrs. Knotts Chicken Dinners is open on Thanksgiving. And, I believe the 'Chicken-To-Go' window is open too !

It's hard to believe that it's already time for our T-Day trip.

Anyone else enjoying the Buffet or any of the other T-Day feasts at the Resort?

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Hope to see you there!

    Enjoy!

I had a PM asking me about the T-Day Buffet (they knew that we went every year), so I thought I'd bring life back to this thread.

    Enjoy!

For attendance yes, but this thread is about the Buffets held at the DL Hotel, specifically the T-Day one.

The last I heard, they stopped doing the Christmas Day event and the Father's Day BBQ event due to lack of guest participation.

    Enjoy!

They used to, but they cancelled it a few years ago.

They also had a Father's Day BBQ event (which was GREAT, BTW).

I guess they didn't have enough guests to keep those going.

    Enjoy!

This sounds wonderful! Does anyone know if they have a Christmas Day Buffet in the Grand Ballroom?
We will be in Anaheim over Christmas and this sounds like the perfect Christmas lunch.

    Seating times vary by availability.

The doors open at 2pm, with seating times up to 7pm.

The tables are set up for a minimum of 2 guests. Some are square, and some round. The square ones can be put together to make longer ones to accomodate your group.

The round ones accomodate from 4 up to about 12.

These meals are not something that you want to rush through. Plenty to eat, and no rush to eat it. We have never been asked to gulp our meals down and leave.

We avg about an hour and a half up to two hours. That includes time to walk around and check out the sights, visit with friends at other tables and say Hi to the characters.

    It's a meal worth enjoying!

So, the dinner is a buffet, but it also runs for quite a few hours, correct? It's not like "Let's sit down *the whole room sits* and enjoy this feast"? How many seats are at a table? Can you reserve specific tables?

Stuffed with stuffing! That sounds yummy!

And yes, Wolfy did a great trip report on the Buffet with some mouth watering photo's of the culinary offerings.

I'm sure that she'll give a repeat performance this year as well.

    Enjoy!
