Disney Gallery Artwork was for Sale...

I went to Disneyland this past Saturday and while in New Orleans Square and had the fortune to stumble upon a Disney Gallery artwork sale! (Sorry that I have no pictures).

There were several pieces being sold for $99 and upwards.

I was really lucky in that I stumbled upon a piece that I had looked at with great admiration on my last visits to the Gallery. I'd post a picture, but I kinda don't have a digital camera functioning right now :/ It was concept art to update the Submarine Voyage, and was created in the 1980s. It was to feature a mermaid pageant, using up-to-date special effects for the time. The concept art is absolutely gorgeous, and to own a framed piece of artwork that actually hung within the Gallery...well, let's just say my dreams came true

I don't know if they sold everything. By the late afternoon, they had moved out. But I don't think they would have been able to sell off everything that day...

I would advise my fellow MCers to ask people at Le Bat En Rouge about this, or perhaps come next Saturday to see if they will be doing this again.

I've only seen them do this twice before--both during remodels. If this is still on, please post, I would like to pick up a piece or two.

They were selling everything that was on the walls in the hallway by the exit that leads you to the Club 33 kitchen. I did hear they were pretty good prices. We were at the Olszewski release so didn't wander by there until about 1:30pm. At that point, they were 5 minutes from closing and had two pieces left. I have a friend who picked up something (haven't had a chance to ask what yet) and I saw others with stuff, but given how much we'd already spent, I wasn't sad to have missed it.

We met some people on the tram that had just bought the POTC III Picture, frame and all. They said that it had been hanging in the gallery.

They did this about a month before the Gallery closed as well.

At that time I lucked out and got 3 of the Eyvind Earle concept art pieces for the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough.

I have prints from the Disney Gallery of the other pieces as well and am going to go directly to the framing company that Disney uses to see if I can get them to frame them in the same way as the ones that were hanging in the Gallery.
