    Daddy's Day at Disneyland

I took my one-year old son to Disneyland a few Fridays ago. Just me and him. Our babysitter was closed for the day, so I took a vacation day to take care of him. The night before I decided that it would be fun to go to Disneyland. My wife was a bit dubious that I could handle it all by myself, but we ended up having a great time. The plan was to go for 3-4 hours, take him on a few rides that he loves (the Carousel, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo), but we ended up staying from 10am-8pm. We had a truly magical day. He went on many rides for the first time that day, including Pirates. I was a little nervous that he may get scared, but he loved it, especially the drops. We also ran into Snow White. He walked right up to her and I got some great shots, including this one:

There were some logistical issues going alone that I didn't think about beforehand. As I was waiting for the tram I all of the sudden worried about how I was going to hold him and load the stroller. A friendly CM gave me a hand. On the way out I decided to take the long path to the Mickey and Friends parking structure. I also had to change his diaper several times, which I wasn't looking forward to because he HATES getting changed in public restrooms. This day that didn't even bother him.

I guess this post doesn't have a point. I just wanted to share my experience.

That's great that you spent a day out with your son and handled everything so well.

              Very fun!!
The first time alone with kids can be scary! I have 2 daughters so taking them into the bathroom isn't fun. I've taken them alone a few times and it's hard but we have a great time!
              You did a great job!

              Love the pic too!
              Snow White is sexy!

Well it is good to know that if you are close to the family restrooms at Disneyland you can have a little more privacy and not expose your kids to certain elements of the public restrooms. But with kids you can never really plan ahead to be close to one of those.

I feel for you. I'm glad to diaper days are over. Just remeber, he'll be out of those evil things in no time! I always changed little aashee on the bench behind the french fry stand in Critter country. It was never busy there.

Cute pictures. Nothing like Daddy day at the park. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful quick report! I love taking my son to Disneyland - and I'm getting faster and faster at the diaper changes. Just remember the Main Street Baby Care Center (or its equivalent in DCA, behind the Mission Tortilla Factory). They make diaper changing easy and more roomy, and it's definitely not like a public restroom.

Frogberto - Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about the Baby Care Centers!
Aashee - I'm looking forward to the post-diaper days. I thought about changing him on the path from Frontierland to Fantasyland but there were too many people around.

Thanks everyone for the comments! We had a great time and I look forward to another Daddy Day soon!

Just don't ask for the free tortilla at the baby care center. It's more like a tamale with a savory filling.

Once diapers are gone its great until you're in line for 30-60 minutes and about to get on a ride and your daughter has to pee and can't hold it.

That sounds bad too, but I'll take that any day over diaper changes!

Then I bought him a Tigger hat.......

                                    Later without the hat........

He loved the Carousel. I took him on it four times.
