  • A Tribute in Pictures - Paradise Pier (2001 - 2007)

So since Paradise Pier, as we know it, is going away ... I thought it might be nice to take a look back at the Paradise Pier that was.

    Paradise Pier during the day

    And at night

When Lilo and Stitch came out, they had a meet and greet and luau near where the Maliboomer is

The wall near Paradise Pier has had some different pictures over the years

This was one of the earliest things in Paradise Pier to go. They also had a Golden Zephyr one. (couldn't find the picture)

An Avalon Cove sign still exists to this day

The rest of these signs are sure to go soon

These lights sure have had their share of critics

In October of 2002 they had an Angels Victory Celebration after they won the World Series over the San Francisco Giants.

In January of 2004, they brought the Tower of Terror Rose Parade float to the Amphiteatre area

During the X-games they had a skateboard/bike ramp in paradise pier

The Cove Bar has ALWAYS been a popular hang out, even in 2002 you can see a familiar face.

And of course, Wolfgang Puck didn't last long, but Ariel's Grotto has been around for awhile now.

New Years Eve is always hopping in Paradise Pier

    Hope you enjoyed.

If you have more paradise pier/memories to share, feel free to. (I know I'm lacking night pictures)

FABULOUS SHOTS! Oh the memories, or those soon to be!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Thanks a lot for that tribute. I happen to really enjoy DCA, and your pictures are beautiful.

          Thanks for sharing!

Funny what a night sky and lots of lights will do to an area. Its like Disney's version of "beer goggles."

I am not a DCA hater but PP during the day pales in comparison to PP at night, IMO.

^ Agreed, I just wish I had some better night shots of the area.

I know I have more, I just don't know where they are. Probably need to be scanned.

I'll be forever sentimental about the ho-hum wannabe-theming in Paradise Pier, but that's just how I am. I'm sure the new stuff will be better...I hope.

They are re-theming Paradise Pier. The rides that are staying are CA Screamin', Carousel, Sun Wheel and Maliboomer. Everything from the Orange to Golden Dreams is going the way of the do-do.

In it's place is 'rumored' to be a beer garden (where the pizza place and McD's is) a Ratatouille coaster (where Mullholland Madness is) and a Little Mermaid Dark Ride (Where Golden Dreams is).

They are also retheming the side where the games and Screamin' are to match the Toy Story Mania ride. More of a victorian theme.

Agreed! It's been a while since we have seen most of those buildings and I must say the construction of TMM! looks better than they did.

Maliboomer may be leaving as well...according to a few sources.

I like Maliboomer, but wouldn't mind if it left. I just can't see what else they can put in it's spot.

Not official news but according to blueskydisney

The rest of the area will likely be behind walls within the next year or so... the final look of the pier won't be done until late 2009. By this time at least one other E-Ticket will be deep under construction and another D-Tickey as well should be done. The Maliboomer is slated for removal, but the concepts to take its place are not finalized yet. There will be another D or E-Ticket that will eventually be constructed in the helix to the left of the carousel. If you don't know what a helix is... well, it's the round section of a roller-coaster track. The Maliboomer is inside one and the other is taken up by grass and palm trees right now... but that may soon change.
                                  We will soon find out...

                                      I will add a few...

While my wife and I were exiting California Screamin' Josh Duhamel, aka Tad Hamilton, approached my wife and said, "Fun ride, huh?"

My wife was beside herself the entire trip and drools everytime she see's this picture. So this is for my wife:

Another one for all the ladies out there...

I am sure we will get many of these shots...

                                      and many of these...

I had a little visitor while enjoying a glass of wine at the Cove Bar:

Heres to a bright future :beg:
