  • Re: This is for people who HAVEN"T won a 'dream'

We won ears this weekend. What I found disconcerting about the whole thing is that before winning we would see people walking around with the dream fastpass and I would think, 'hey where do I have to go to win something', and then when you win it is like 'Hey all I won was some stupid ears that I have to walk around with, give me the fastpass thing-a-ma-bob'. And like the OP all I really wanted was the night in the old Disney gallery. I don't think that this promotion of random winning is good for DL if everyone is running around trying to win or miffed that they didn't win, or didn't win a big ticket item.

OK, both Lisa and myself have won Dreams, aka prizes in the park multiple times.

First off, are you getting there early in the day, the way the rules are designed, being morning visitors does help your chance to win.

Are you out walking and doing attractions, I have won exiting attractions, or walking by a specific spot on the ground. Lisa recently got a set of ears just by entering the GCH entrance to DCA.

But if you really want a pair of Ears, or the Pin Lanyard set, then just use the mail-in entry system, Lisa and I have won MANY prizes via that entry method, and it isn't that expensive.

In today's "Monday at the Parks" column over at MiceAge, I explain step-by-step how to do it. You will spend about $20 to get a prize (based on the odds), but the cost vs expected prizes has a much better "expected value" (a gamblers term) than the lottery and most casino games.

A postcard is always at the park at opening, and stays until 5 PM (when the Dream Patrol goes home), it also shows up daily (so long as you mail them daily).

So if you want a Prize or two, just start mailing in postcards. Heck, you might even get lucky and win the DVC points or a trip to every Disney Park in the world.....

We won ears on 9/26 - not quite the 'dream' I had in mind......and frankly, when we saw about 50 others nearby, it seemed the dream had been 'watered down'......doesn't seem like a dream, as stated. So, do my 'ears' count??

I've never won anything, and it does get frustrating when I do hear of people winning multiple times. I know of a family who went to WDW and won twice. One day they won the chance to go backstage of Fastrack, along with a dream fastpass. The very next day this family got to go backstage on Expedition Everest, and were given dream fastpasses, again! I've been 5 times this year with nothing more than a smile, oh well. Like others have said, that's not why I go to DL, and a promotion like this will not entice me to visit any more than I already do.

I've not won anything and don't really care. I would rather see the promotional money, time and effort into this latest campaign into the paychecks of the castmembers of Disneyland, which I would hope would raise the standard for better employees.

We were there for several days and didn't win anything, but we had far greater experiences that getting "stuff". Me and my daughter were chosen by Merlin for the sword in the stone ceremony. That was just one of many special things that happened this trip unrelated to the YOAMD campaign.
