Today I called the disneyland hotline to see what blackouts I had for the months of September and August. So I'm listening to the recording and I hear "remember you can buy a blockout day for only 40 dollars". It used to be 30. Forever it was like that. Now it's 40? Whats going on here? I'm not paying no 40 bucks for a blockout day. I hope I missheard the recording. Cause thats BS that they try to screw us over........again

Re: AP blockouts
How much is a Blockout day ticket and where can I purchase it?
Blockout day tickets are available for sale at the Main Entrance ticket booths for $40.00
YIKES!! I can't believe this. This is ridiculous. I'm hoping all this extra money will go to pay for some nice improvements to the parks, not the execs. pockets.
Wow...

Re: AP blockouts
Hmmm.... on a moral level I'm outraged but on a slightly more realistic level it now makes better financial sense for me to buy the uber AP.St. Elizabeth, Patron Saint of Themed parks. Protect us from break downs, long lines, and used gum. Amen.

So go Premium, or go home (or go to the bank and draw out $40). $124/$154 for the SoCal passes is still a steal for the money, and so is the Premium.

As they always have been.
Never saw the value in just a DAP. We spend too much money at the Resort(which equals a lot of discounts) to not have a PAP.
Plus add to that the free parking, (even though we rarely need it) it's nice to know it's there for us.
The price of a blockout pass is a non-issue for us (thankfully). I think that we have only purchased one in about 18 or so years of having AP's.

Re: AP blockout [days now $40]
Hmmmm....I live 1200 miles away, will be treating my wife for her 50th birthday to a couple days a t the park and will spend in excess of $3000 for airfare and hotel etc....Somehow I have a difficult time feeling sorry for you.....Although you could probably have a large gathering with the folks who are complaining because they have been to the parks 100s of times and not won anything in the YOAMD promotion.....Let the flaming begin.

Holy moley! That's a heckuva hike! A $5 increase would have been a little more manageable, but $10 is a 33% increase -- ouch!! Thank goodness it's at least on par with the standard cost of living increase.

Re: AP blockout [days now $40]
I don't really see the big deal here, the cost is still way less than half of what a 1-day park hopper would be. When you are so close that you get to go quite often, it doesn't seem that much to pay for a day here or there. Although, anything over 3 and I'd say it's not good sense to not just upgrade.
I have a Deluxe AP and I live in Texas, but I know that if I take a trip just twice in the year, I'm getting my money worth on it because I usually go for 4 days. Paying $214 two different times doesn't make sense when I can just pay $45 more for the DAP, no matter how far I'm travelling.
I realize it's still a pretty big jump, but it's a good deal. At least they offer a blockout ticket rather than just having the blockout dates and having you pay full price on those days.

I think their confidence is up after what must have been huge numbers last year. Again, WE here on Micechat will probably keep buying the A.P.s, but at some point, John Q. Public is going to stay home and try to keep from letting the bank foreclose on his home. I just have to wonder if the numbers will drop like a rock this year. I would LOVE to see some attendance numbers come March and April to see if these price increases have had any effet. The APs are what are generating the whole Halloweentime spike in crowds now through what USED to be a fairly lackluster Sept/October. It will be interesting to look at NEXT October and see if there might just be a 25% drop in AP renewals a year from now.To view more of my photos, please visit: William McIntosh PhotographyMac Daddy's Autumn, 2011 Photo Thread

Re: AP blockout [days now $40]
I don't even see why Disney offers these blockout day passes at all.
Want to go on a blockout day? Pay the $66 entrance fee.
Don't want to pay $66? Don't go.
Since that seems to be the rule the rest of the world lives by, I don't see why the AP crowd should be any different.
