  • Cafe Orleans vs. Blue Bayou

I am taking someone to the park for their 2nd ever visit. I want to have a nice lunch... and just wanted to get your thoughts on the blue bayou versus the cafe orleans.

I've been to the Blue Bayou a number of times and never to cafe orleans.

The person I am taking is a ratatouille fan but is Cafe Orleans worth it over the BB?

If money's no object, I'd say the choice is almost ridiculously simple. Blue Bayou all the way, man. Easily the park's best eatery, regardless of how good the food is.

be there 2 weeks from today.

The only exception I would say, is if the person you are taking are a huge french fries/pommes frites fan...Cafe Orleans has the best, and go there just for that reason! Other than BB hands down!

Are the Monte Cristo sandwiches the same at both or do they vary in taste/size?

Make a regular reservation and when you show up to check in, tell them you'd like a waterside table. You'll most likely have to wait awhile though, but it's worth it for those who have never been there before.

If you just going for the Monte Cristo, I would go to the

I will say that when I was at BB for my anniversary in May, both the food and the service were excellent. I enjoyed French Market, as well, though it certainly wasn't as cool as the Bayou. Prices were better, though.

Blue Bayou without a doubt! We went in early Spetember. Food, service & atmosphere were excellent. We were told the wait for a waterside table would be about 30 minutes but each time they seated us within 5 minutes.

As for the difference in the Monte Cristo, here's their menu listings:

                                Blue Bayou:
                                Le Special de Monte Cristo
Turkey, ham and Swiss cheese in a battered egg bread, lightly fried to a golden brown

                                Cafe Orleans:
                                Monte Cristo
Sliced turkey, ham and Swiss cheese in a light batter,
fried and served with berry puree
                                Three-Cheese Monte Cristo

There's no real difference in the taste of the Monte Cristo itself.

I went to the Blue Bayou with a few friends for my birthday last Friday. I made reservations for 4 1/2 people and when I got there I told them I'd wait for a waterside table. They really tried to discourage me, they were adamant that my entire party of 5 had to wait IN the waiting area and told me it would probably be 45 minutes-- but it could be shorter or longer. It made no difference that there were two of us wearing birthday buttons (she didn't even say happy birthday to either of us). Anyway, since one of our party was a 3 year old we convinced them that most of us would wait while one person walked the 3 year old around nearby but would come immediately when called.

After all that the wait was probably 15-20 minutes then we had a great table and great service. The crew managing the front desk always seems to be pretty discouraging, but once you make it past them it's worth it!

Blue Bayou for a first time experience. A Waterside table is worth the wait, and the food, well it can be variable. In the past half dozen meals I've had there over the course of a year, I have great meals and average meals. I have never had a bad meal, the worst being just...well...average. Only once was the service less than expected, and our poor server was assisting other servers because there was a "VIP" having dinner there and was receiving the bulk of attention. I cannot fault the server for that, for when she did get to us, each time she was apologetic and really tried to focus on our needs. She was doing as best she could considering.

Needless to say I tipped well that evening.

I love the pommes frites and the monte cristos at Cafe Orleans. I used to go to BB all of the time during our visits, but, had heard that since re-opening, that the food quality had gone downhill. Did this change?
