here are some pics of the newly added shade area on the space queue and also tuesday nite it seemed like there was a special event on the second level of the starcade. sorry about the low quality image but you can see a bunch of tables with guests- i assume press and disney execs. there was also a small stage with a podium and some plasma displays...

Yes! They came up just in time for the busy, sweltering summer. Melmel and I were there a week ago, and the posts were up only, smelling of fresh paint. But now we can be shaded!

As for the party, that was a potluck for Tomorrowland Merchandise Cast Members.

^Well, that explains the activity I saw in the second level of the Starcade last Thursday, I just wonder what it's for. Most likely what you mentioned, a press area.

However, the shade on top of Space Mountain is nice.

they got those up quickly, they weren't there monday night even, the posts were up all around the queue however.

I'll be there tonight to take some pictures, but here's a night time shot from
my photo update from this week, you can see where the lightposts are on
the 2nd level (with all the people lined up)

and by looking at the 1st & 2nd pictures provided here in this post:




they seem to rise just above those lights. So they'll definitely
change the view of Space Mountain, but not TOO much.

It'll be interesting to see that same shot of mine now that they're up.

Daddyb, remember how you took a pic of like the full space view and said, will this be like this once the structures are up? Well maybe get the same pic, so we can see the difference
