  • Neil Armstrong at Space Mountain Re-Launch

"Neil Armstrong, astronaut and the first man to walk on the moon, will be in attendance for the official re-launch ceremonies of Space Mountain." (Disney press release)

I find this to be astounding news! Neil Armstrong is generally very reclusive. He has repeatedly declined to be interviewed about his moon experiences. My dad made me get up at a very early hour to watch him blast off to the moon and then the moon landing. For years I wanted to be an astronaut more than just about anything.

I wish I could be there in person. I hope that one of you there will get to observe the re-launch and can fill us in. (Boy it's getting hard to read all the posts about the upcoming do!)

Neil Armstrong at Disneyland. Whoever's idea this was - Thanks!

I think its cool too- especially since there were astronauts at the original dedication of space mountain (I can't think right now who they were). The ceremony should be cool.

Very, VERY kewl. It sounds like it will be a very classy grand reopening. Nicely done, Disney. Now I just want to see Mission: SPACE Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto in Tomorrowland

It is absolutely an honor to have Neil Armstrong there! He is truly an American Hero. I cannot think of ANY person who we be more appropriate at the re-launch of Space Mountain!

(P.S. I just hope that Eisner is not there. :beg: It would be a downer!)

You know it is perfect Timing that the Space Shuttle is going up again at the same time they are celebrating the Launch of Space Mountain.
Who better then the man who got the privelage of walking on the moon for the first time. I agree very cool that Neil Armstrong will be there!! :yea:

Wasn't he one of the astronauts there for the dreaded TL98 launch? i seem to remember hearing about a couple astronauts being there and I think I heard Armstrong's name tossed around.

If I'm not mistaken it was Buzz Alderon at the 98 TL...but let me check, I think I have an 98 LA Times article stashed in my closet somewhere

The ceremony is at 10am. As with all Disneyland ceremonies, good luck getting any kind of decent view if you are merely a paying guest.

Oh, the Shuttle launch was scrapped. Bad sensor reading, and they are understandably cautious about such things nowadays.
