  • Toy Story Mania Building

If you haven't seen it in person lately I strongly suggest everybody go to darkbeer's page at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/ and check out the progress on the new Toy Story Mania building in DCA. This has got to be one of the more under-reported topics on the boards lately and the building is turning out to be the most beautiful and ornate building in DCA (though that may not be saying much). Just contrasting it with the remaining midway architecture shows that the DCA re-do is off to an incredible start. Whether the ride lives up to expectations or not the look of Paradise Pier is definitely on the mend!
I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

It really makes it surroundings look bland and ugly. It shows just how much was skimmped in the park's design. I agree that it is getting things off to a better start. Paradise Pier needs a lot of work.

Thank you for the plug, I hope to get to the park Tomorrow for some better shots than Sunday (way too many things to do), but it is coming along nicely.

Now imagine if the REST of Paradise Pier looked like that building! Now I can't wait for summer 2008...
I am a rabid Disney fan. Possible future Imagineer (already designing rides for it)... I've only been to Disneyland. I'm hoping to go to Disney World this summer for the first time, and TDR might be possible in 3 years.

Can you send a link to the specific pics, cause I couldn't find the ones you're talking about.

Here's the link for the 9/30/07 update. The Midway pics are on pages 5 and 6.

Although I believe the facades are looking wonderful, does anyone else notice the big show building behind Screamin'? Hopefully it will get some sort of treatment...However I haven't been to DCA in a month or so and can't remember how visible the building was from just walking around.
I wish I never had to leave this magical place.

From what I've seen, you can't see the show building at all from just walking around the park. But it's as clear as day from Screamin,' Maliboomer, and probably Sun Wheel. But those attractions have never really had views that didn't break the illusion anyway..
