  • Best walking Route From the Hilton?

We are leaving for DLR in a few days, yea!! We got a great deal on Hotwire and we are staying at the Hilton on Convention Way.
I have read that the best way to get to the park is to walk to the parking lot and take the tram. My daughter uses a wheelchair. Am I correct to assume that the tram is wheelchair accessible? Is there usually a wait if you have a chair? Would we be better off just walking the whole way to the park? Also, does the tram run early and late? We like to get to the park before opening and on Thursday night we will be at Mickey's Halloween treat until late.

    Thanks!!!

ART is a good idea if you want to save time and stress walking. I believe all the buses are wheelchair accessible. I don't know how to walk to the Timon lot, maybe you can cut thru the convention center.

Thanks for the suggestion but, with four of us going to the park four different days, ART would get pretty expensive.

        Google Map of Area

You should be able to walk up Hotel Way (next to the Hilton) and get to Katella. Walking to the west on Katella, there will be a crosswalk across Katella with an entrance to Timon Lot. From there, you can take the Tram to the entrance. Alternatively, you can walk up Harbor to the East Shuttle area and enter from there. As long as the Timon tram is running going through the Timon lot should be faster.

The Hilton is a nice hotel and you should have a great time there.

We've stayed at the Hilton before...you can walk through the Convention Center area and there is a crosswalk that takes you to the parking lot. From there, you can catch the tram which is wheelchair accessible, but as far as times they run, I couldn't say. Not a short walk at the end of a long day, but a good price at a nice hotel works sometimes!

I've stayed there. The hotel was decent. but we drove to the parking structure.

I have walked it, but I have also taken the ART. You can buy passes at the hotel. Also, when I stayed there on a Good Neighbor package, we had them include an ART pass in our package. I don't think that the pass is that expensive, if I remember, correctly. To me, it was worth it, rather than walking back late at night. It's a good hike to the tram, and then your just 1/2 way there. If you take the tram back to the parking lot, you still have to walk the rest of the way.

                  Always use the crosswalks.

And use the crosswalk signs, need to make sure you have time to use them.

Note, the Timon Lot is not always open to the public.

If they are not using it, there are no trams running, and you would have to walk the entire way.

I would use ART, it is $3 per person per day, no matter how many times you go back and forth in a day. And the fleet is wheelchair accessible. For some reason, the ART bus arrives without a working wheelchair lift, the driver will call a supervisor to make a wheelchair friendly vehicle is dispatched to stop ASAP.

I was under the impression that the ART goes to quite a few hotels, is this true? So, once you are picked up you may be on it for a while, right?

The one from the Hilton only picks up from the other hotel across the street I believe. It is pretty fast. It doesn't take that long. The Hilton isn't really that far. I never minded walking there, but a walk after a long day at Disneyland is another matter.

I think at $12 a day for the 4 of us to ride the ART that we will probably just walk.

Have you contacted the Hotel? They might have a shuttle?

There usually are shuttles that run on the hour and half hour from most major hotels.

But the City of Anaheim has required almost all hotels (a couple are grandfathered, as in no need for a building permit since the early 90's) to use the ART system. It is a way to lower emissions. But your main choices are to walk, and I would just head east to Harbor from the Hilton Main Entrance, then north to the Disneyland Main Pedestrian Entrance if you don't want to use the ART system.

Ditto - I would have said walk regardless - but he mentioned a wheelchair. That's quite a way for a wheelchair.

Its about a 20min walk for peeps. Plus you walk by 7-11 which is a great op to load up on water/sugar/etc for the day.

Ok, from what I have been told, there is a crosswalk on Katella and a path through to the Timon Parking lot. Wouldn't it be shorter to go that way then then all the way out to Harbor?
