  • Nightmare: French Market, heavy tray...and no empty tables !!!

Has this ever happened to you?

Isn't that the worst feeling in the world? You are carrying around a heavy tray....just wandering aimlessly, not seeing a single empty table....everybody's looking at you with pity....

Or, even worse....you drop the tray, what then?

Do they refill your order, or do you have to repay for a second ?

The Plaza Inn usually has lots of seats, although I suppose it could happen there.

It's mainly a French Market thing, I think.

I can definitely relate to the no-tables thing, but the heavy tray? Notsomuch since they did away with genuine china plateware. :shy:

That's why it is always good to have a buddy with you, that way one person orders and the other gets a table. I've never had that happen to me though, and when I'm on my own ... if I see someone there on their own as well I ask if they don't mind sharing a table ... usually they do (I've never been turned down when I do ask though).

        Don't hate me, but....

When I was at opening day of the LA County Fair, I snagged one of the last available tables.

A couple carrying trays walked up and asked if they could sit at my table, as there were no more empty seats left.

I said no, however they sat right down anyway.

We usually have a worse time at Plaza Inn and yet have never had an issue at French Market. Guess it is just all in the timing.

I think that they would let you replace it for free, just go up, maybe ask to talk to management, that is it. Usually they are really good about it

Haven't had to deal with the table thing, but...

While walking to our front row table at the TT to enjoy one of Sandbox Band's shows, I was carrying four sodas and some snot nosed kid ran around the condiment stand and right into me. All four sodas hit the pavement.

A custodian CM saw the incident and went up to the counter and told a food service CM what had happened. We got our four sodas replaced free and a complimentary cookie for our "trouble".

Oh, and no parents to be found for the kid. He was about 8 years old, and took off even faster after he hit me.

I usually go to the French Market when it opens up at 11am so I don't have to deal with this problem. Not only do I want to have a seat, but I also don't want to be one of those people who uncomfortably stalks people who appear are getting close to finishing.
