  • Things that make you go Boo Hoo

I just had a conversation with my wife (St. Elizabeth) about crying at disneyland. I'm not talking about little kid scared of loud noises crying, I'm talking about the gooshy crying. I admit to crying at disneyland every now and again... specificly:

Fantasmic princess floats.... even big tough macho guys like me need love
When I saw Madame Leota floating it made me so happy I teared up
I bawled the entire "Remember" fireworks show, well, laughed-cryed.
I even teared up a bit when I saw that Golden Dreams show... I mean, NO I DIDN'T :whistling
When I rode the Matterhorn with my two year old nephew I cryed because he was so happy.

*ahem* anyway, my public demanifacation out of the way, what has made you cry at disneyland?
St. Elizabeth, Patron Saint of Themed parks. Protect us from break downs, long lines, and used gum. Amen.

I cried when I first saw Tinker Bell, which wasn't until I was 16 (even though I'd been going to the park nearly every summer since I was an infant; long story, that). I also cried on May 5th at the beginning of the parade. The sky had just cleared up, and the lights came on all up the street leading up to Small World, and then the fairies danced into view... Yeah, I totally cried. And I probably cried a little when I saw Belle's Parade of the Stars float. I'm positive there have been other times, but I don't remember.

        Snow during believe.

Parade of Dreams when I heard Walt's speech.

Walt's speech again during Remember... and again during the MSEP music again.

Yes, you may point and laugh because I'm a wuss.

As soon as I go through the tunnel and I can see main street. I've cried before even going through the entrance gates though too.

I'll admit, the fireworks show has been known to make me cry. Just something about the music, I guess...

I went there with some of my best friends right after we graduatedn HS, and I cried a little when the train pulled into the Main Street Station. I have never felt more disappointed about "growing up."

I am probably going to cry when they play Walt's speach on the 50th too. I get all sentimental when I hear it at work on E-Ticket radio.

I cried at the fireworks too! I cried in the 50 first magical years when Walt reads the speech. I almost starting crying in the Tiki Room too, I just love when all the glee club lights up.

I cried last year when my youngest four year old sister first went to Disneyland. And I accompanied her on her first ride on it's a small world, she was so happy, which made me all teary eyed. It felt after that I was actually at Disneyland. My other boo hoo moment was on the last ride of the vacation, The Indiana Jones Adventure. I absolutely hated waiting in line, and thinking of having to fly back to Michigan. I couldn't help but cry, how lame is that?!

I cry out of the pure joy of seeing emptional marvels such as the Believe fireworks or Fantasmic! I well up beacause of the fond memory of a beloved old attraction - especially one the is soon to return, like the Subs. Watching a child's face aglow with delight over an attraction also causes my eyes to tear up.

Don't you know that you do not have to grow up. It is one of my favorite quotes by Walt Disney - "Why do we have to grow up?" He also said - "That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up."

I am 57 years old and I plan on never growing up. It's the real spirit of Disneyland. Get in touch with your "inner child".
