  • Why name a new section of Disney's California Adventure...

Cars Land/CarLand? Shouldn't the Imagineers have seen a closer connection to the Golden State by using U.S. Route 66 as the land name? Or is that too easy?

I mean, Cars Land/CarLand sounds like it belongs in, I dunno, Disneyland? Behind Tomorrowland? And, to the right of Frontierland? We could also try, Legoland?

Should we expect other additions to have simple suffixes like Pixar Place, Remy's Room, Magic Mall, and Stitch's Center?

The idea is to bring in the biggest crowds possible. In Disney's corporate mind, movie connections are a big thing.

I mean, Cars Land sounds like it belongs in, I dunno, Disneyland? Behind Tomorrowland? And, to the right of Frontierland?
I'm a little confused here...I mean, behind Tomorrowland are sparse backstage areas and Harbor Boulevard, and to the right of Frontierland is a narrow walkway that links the northern backstage areas to the center of the park...

Datameister, you're supposed to be confused. Placing the Land, while following both guidelines, is impossible.

Did that not come out right? Kinda like thinking I'm having flatulence, then it becomes...

In other words, you're saying that Cars Land has no place in the resort at all? Mmmm, I can appreciate that position. I'm trying to remain optimistic about the project, against my better judgment.

I'm glad to see some major change coming to DCA and it will probably finally be a fun park by the time they're done, but I'll be honest, right now it just seems to be a thematic mess. We've got Walt Disney moving through California and through time, and then somehow we also fit in Pixar and the Little Mermaid. I do have to admit to being a bit confused.

I guess I'll wait until I can see more to say anything for certain. I do agree that calling Carsland Route 66 would have made much more sense. But in marketing or whoevers crazy mind, naming a land route 66 wouldn't have the same impact on the stupid public as naming it something simple like carsland even though that's the most uninspired name for a land ever.

I liked the rumored "Carland" better than "Cars Land". Small difference, but it has a nicer flow to it

So long as they don't call the ride, "Cars: Lightening and Mater to the Rescue!"

Well when you are building your land on one of the most generic movie titles in history, there you go . I agree, its pretty uninspiring, and I PRAY someone rethinks it between now and official opening. There's still time lol, but yeah it sucks!!

I am very excited for the new changes but you are right, Route 66 as land name would be better. And they could still have the Cars attraction there.

I still think that area should be used for more SF theming!!!!!
I mean if the golden gate bridge as an entrance is gone then why not put it in a new San Fransisco area!!!!! You could have cable cars, the pyramid building, china town, and it could be in the 1920s era!!!!

Why not "CARlifornia"? Stupid? Maybe but I like it.

Because the new part of the park is going to be themed to the Disney Pixar movie Cars.

I am not a fan of the idea of naming it "Carsland" it just doesn't roll off the tongue very well. I can't imagine saying "let's go to Carsland" but whatever, I am just excited for something new.... hopefully with stuff not just for little kids.

I also dislike the name. I like the Route 66 idea, or they could use some name that brings to mind the California Deserts, as the themeing seems to be very "desert-y"

See some DOM's don't think everything Disney does is gold.

I think the Cars Land name is too dry and anonymous. But, it is what people are going to call it, regardless of it's actual name at opening.

I think a name along the lines of Radiator Springs, as they are pretty much just moving the town from Arizona to California, would be appropriate. Or, maybe make it more generic like Ornament Valley.

Perhaps, because "a bug's land" is similar to "a bug's life" in alliteration?

Cars? Then, why not Cars Lot? Cars Dealership? Canopy of Cars? Cars - Toontown, y' know, as in cartoons?
