So when will DCA get a Disney coaster?

DCA is in desperate need of a Disney coaster and one has yet to be annouced. By Disney coasters, I am referring to highly themed experiences such as Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn. California Screamin' is about as far from a Disney coaster as you can get.

Is anyone else really hoping that DCA gets a truly great Disney Coaster soon?

Yes but it is so fun! haha. I was hoping that the Hollywood Pictures Backlot was going to get Rockin Rollercoaster but I guess that's not happening.... plus it wouldn't have fit into the old Hollywood theme they are putting in

I don't think it needs a Disney Coaster. Screamin is a great ride and fits in thematically with what they'll be doing there. It just needs general thematic consistency parkwide.

I don't think it needs a Disney Coaster. Screamin is a great ride and fits in thematically with what they'll be doing there. It just needs general thematic consistency parkwide.

Screamin' isn't much fun to me. Anyway, the theme of Paradise Pier will likely still be kind of bland even with the overhaul.

Hmmm... I guess there's not a whole lotta space for a new "mountain" unless they do some shifting to add Rock'n'Roller Coaster to Hollywood, but I just don't know if there's the space. Having another one on the other side of the park would be too close to CA Screamin.


Maybe Monsters Inc can go the way of the dodo, combine with Hollywood & Dine to create a Hollywood Coaster there?

And the original theme of that land is to have no theme, just to be an ordianry amusemnt park. If I wanted to visit an ordinary amusemnt park, I would go to a Six Flags.

The theme is an amusement park yes, and Disney themed the attraction to an amusement park setting. Fits the theme to me, sounds Disney-ish. Now the theme itself on the other hand...isn't very good, hence the change. But to answer your question the coaster is themed.

To me, Screamin' could be found at Knott's or Six Flags with ease.

And both chains (and others, like Universal) have much better themed queues for Roller Coasters than Screamin' offers.

I disagree with this statement. In my experience, queues found at Knott's and Six Flags (with a few exceptions) are just as plain and boring as the one CA Screamin' has. In fact, some even have less protection from the sun.

I like Screamin' because it's a technically competant roller coaster. There's a great launch and a great first half. It has a boring ending though.

I like that it's the sixth longest coaster in the world.

Screamin' doesn't belong in Disneyland, but I think as long as the rest of Paradise Pier is plussed, Screamin' belongs. Paradise Pier wouldn't be as interesting without it.

Batman: The Ride is a decent attempt at theming for a Six Flags park.

I think that with the new refurbishments planned, they're planning to make DCA into more of a family park. Chances of a new coaster look pretty bleak to me, although I do agree: California Screamin' just doesn't have that Disney factor.

You've hit my hot point with this "DCA Do-over". DCA's entry area
now looks more promising, BUT crappiest themed District in all of
DCA (and of any Disney park) is Paradise Pier. An amusement area
themed to be an Amusement area just ain't amusing or imaginative.
Route 66 is headed to yesterland, shortly. And the possibility of
the Maliboomer and the Orange Stinger heading that same direction
remain strong, But two of the most obnoxious carney looking things
appear to be staying virtually AS IS! The ferris wheel and rollercoaster.


I can't believe Disney is leaving those two rides fully exposed,
keeping the pier looking just like the entrance to Knott's and
Magic Mountain. That is the part of DCA that looks like any other
place in the country! So what if the entrance takes you to
Walt's California, when you go half way in the park and see
a ferris wheel and a rollercoaster ~ Route 66 is getting it's changes,
yes ~ but the when you see that damn roller coaster and ferris
wheel, in one of the most prominent places in DCA, it's like
getting shortsheeted!

DCA should ONLY do a rollercoaster if it can be themed as well as,
or better than, the matterhorn, space mt, or big thunder. For
for imagineerings sake, and for all DL guests, they need to do
something about Screamin and the Wheel! They need to make them
look like something, other than what they are ~ or else GET RID OF
THEM!

DCA doesn't need another coaster right now.

What it needs is family-based attractions, where everyone can ride and enjoy.

The new Cars attraction should satisfy your quench for thrill yet heavy theming. Coasters aren't necessarily the "best" medium for thrilling attractions, anyway. Technologically, I think we've moved past that, IMO.

Umm...Screamin is a really fun coaster, that a lot of people love. It's themed well to it's District, and the District is themed well to the park concept. If you don't like the theme, that's really your problem, and it doesn't mean that the theme doesn't exist, it just means you don't like or appreciate it.

So if you want to call for the destruction of an attraction that I enjoy, don't claim you are doing for MY sake, or the sake of any the guests that love that coaster. Please don't do me any favors.

If you don't like the theme, that's really your problem, and it doesn't mean that the theme doesn't exist, it just means you don't like or appreciate it.

Well, the park is being focused on Walt Disney. Would Walt like it? Probably not, along with the rest of Paradise Pier.
