  • What's Happened to the Fold-Out Maps?

For years the park(s) have been selling large fold out, poster sized, maps. Last time I went, there were none to be found and the cast members were not even sure when they last had them. ("I think we had them for the 50th") Any ideas where they went and will they return?

No idea. The souvenir maps are updated approximately every 5-years, so Disneyland is due for new one in 2010. The last maps sold were indeed the 50th anniversary maps. Up until very recently you could still buy them, but only of the rolled variety in an expensive frame, not the $5 fold-outs which is usually the going rate. There were rumors of a new map coming out this summer, but alas, that never materialized.
Even more interesting would be DCA. They haven't had a new map since opening, and haven't sold that map in years. With the announcements of all the expansions coming, they could probably make a mint selling a map that included the 5-year plan in it.

I just bought a 50th map at one of the disney liquidating stores run by AMS (i think that's what their name is). It was in Auburn WA earlier this month.

I think Disney is still mapping out some details.

I did some searching and was able to come up with the map.

As you can see it is rather large, easily folded, and displays the most important parts of the Disneyland Resort!

              Oh, TECHSKIP.

I'd caption it "proposed redevelopment area"

Well that depends. If you mean to enhance the overall theme and bring more animals to life, create more scenes, and ultimately improve one of the most immersive rides IMO ever designed... then yes. If you mean to slap a bunch of mismatched themes full of ill conceived rides and half hearted attempts at innovations then I would simply point you to DCA with two fingers and say "Please follow the bulldozers along with the rest of WDI". In a sense Mary Shelly would be proud to know that her book has now inspired it's own theme park full of oddly matched parts and crudely sewn themes.

                  Oh geez...

IMO, Jungle Cruise, is a total snooze.

Cute, but definitely not 'all that'.

Thank you. Techskip and I go back over several threads on this. I agree it should be called "jungle snooze"

                      Hopefully they will appear soon!

The 50th Ones had little details down to the Anchor in NOS and even the burning cabin (Actually Burning) on TSI.

It wasn't burning any more on my last visit, pre Santa Ana winds.
