  • Ch-ch-ch-Chip-n-Dale's Treehouse

I seem to remember (and the memory is a little fuzzy, as I was seven years old at the time) that Chip and Dales Treehouse had a ball pit underneath it's canopy, complete with slide. Am I mistaken? Stupid college... killing my brain cells and messing with my memory...
Anyone up for a Colorado Micechatters meet-up?

It did have a ball pit, but every time a child had an accident in it they had to close the pit.

The pit is still there, and besides the absence of the acorns and the entrance blocked by planters, it's virtually unchanged. Still lit, still playing area music, but inaccessible.

Was is guarded by Monstro the whale? Like you had to go through Monstro's mouth to get into the ball pit?

Cause if not I had some pretty intense realistic dreams as a child.

Lawyers killed both of those things I believe.

They also killed Goofy's Bounce House and Donald's Boat.

Nothing.. You walk up and walk down. Kind of sad really that the Lawyers got invovled.

Lawyers seem to kill everything that was once fun. From the Toontown houses to the jumping fountains at Ariel's Grotto and the Fountains that used to be by the big floating marble ball of nothing in Tomorrowland. I just hope that one day the fountains at the Grotto are back, they were so much fun to play in, and since the ones in WDW are still there, and much closer to kid's faces, still stand today.

It seems most of what was fun in ToonTown has been closed due to safety issues, including the Trolley. Poor TT, it really needs some love!

The treehouse is actually now the single worst attraction in all of the Disneyland resort. It's the one thing in Toontown that needs to be refreshed.

Gah, sadly I don't blame this one on the lawyers.

Rather, I think it was the DL execs who watched in horror as tourists and immigrants - on hot days- would happily strip their little children down to their birthday suits and let them frolic in the fountains much to the dismay of the American regulars.

There is a reason why many call those open fountains "ghetto showers." It's mean to say but sadly true.

I know that there has been a nationwide crackdown on ball pits (usually those found in fast food chain play parks) where trash, body fluids and feces, and sharp and deadly objects have been found. It's pretty scary.

In fact, there was one of those chain e-mails going around about a ball pit in a McDonald's in the South where a nest of snakes were found after biting a 3-year-old to death. If it was true or not, I haven't done the research.

If it's not the lawyers closing these down, its the companies themselves wanting to avoid any and all liability for injured children. Of course, cases of wildly overprotective single mothers heavily outweigh those of actual child injuries.

Were I a lawyer, I'd be suing these negligent parents for taking them to Burger King over and over again instead of actually preparing healthy meals. You wonder why child obesity has reached all-time highs...

Then we can spend hours popping those little bubbles, it'll be perfect. Probably the most entertainment at Toontown.

The fountains in Tomorrowland created a huge bottleneck and I'm glad they are gone.
