  • January 2008

I am heading to Disneyland this january. Does anyone know what the crowds are going to be like? We had some difficulty booking a hotel and we are a little concerned that it might be busy. Can anyone cast some light on this. I have never been at this time so I don't know what it is going to be like. Thank you.

The crowds will be filled with some men, some women and some children........HAH HAH - sorry, couldn't resist.

Crowds should die down after January 6 - my instincts tell me....

January what? It's a long month.

      New Years is VERY busy.

The holiday w/e will be busy.

      Weekdays should be slower.

And you do have to deal with the weather too.

      Have a Tiggerific time!

        Re: January 2008

Christmas peak season now lasts thru Sunday, January 6th. That week will be very busy, but a bit less than the prior week.

The weekend of Janaury 18th thru the 21st will be busy for the MLK, Jr. Holiday weekend.

Then you have the ticket promotions starting the second week, out of town guests get 2 days free if they buy at least a 3 day ParkHopper, and the ever popular Southern California Resident special starts at the same time.

Disney does a lot of local promotions to get folks to visit, so it seems to get busy, especially on the weekends. Weekdays should be OK for the most part, starting the second week, and avoid Monday the 21st.

          Re: January 2008

I went during the second week of January in 2006 and it was pretty dead. It never rained and the weather was upper 60s and lowers 70s which I am used to because I live in San Francisco. Most kids are back in school by that time, but some that have year-round school are not. I go to a university here and we are off until the end of January.

Just for a comparison, I went to Disney World for the first time this past January during the same time after the New Years week and it was much more crowded than Disneyland was in January. We were there in between their marathon weekend and the MLK Jr. weekend, so that was probably why. We are going again during the same time in January of 2008, but we are going before before the marathon and a week before MLK Jr.

          Have fun!

I'll be there for 4 days starting on the 2nd. It doesn't sound very good for us. Oh well, we survived it last year for New Years.

Be prepared for a lot of kids, as many South-West schools don't go back until January 7th or a day or two later, due to too many unexcused absences due to the celebration of Three Kings Day and many families leaving the US to return to their Latin American home countries and friends and family located there.
