It's worth noting that zoom lenses compress space, sometimes quite a bit. So the space you're seeing in the Dateline Disneyland pictures is a lot bigger than what it might seem like in the photos.
Definitely. This third image of the backlot demolition (sorry, can't get a link to it to work) clearly shows that the area being excavated is within maybe up to 150 feet of the back side of ToonTown. There are plenty of vehicles, objects on the ground and shadows to give scale. The lot that has already been cleared sits right up against the service road that runs directly behind ToonTown. The building in the foreground, with the roll-up doors, is several hundred feet closer to the photographer, maybe 100 feet from Disneyland Drive. I suspect that what has been described as a pad for future expansion, will initially be a necessary location for construction vehicles, including a crane or two, and therefore needs to be leveled and repaved before much of the actual construction can start.
Anyone know when the new movie is going in Soarin'? It's been closed on and off lately and only one side was running last time we were there. Also on the Disneyland app I've been noticing unusually long wait times for it on "slow" days. Seem there are unusual things going on there that mey indicate a change?
I was at the parks yesterday and it appears that all of the original rockwork from Nature's Wonderland had been cleared out. The whole area was bulldozed flat and there was a pile of old concrete, wood and rebar where they used to be. So much for that bit of history remaining.
I want you to know, nobody cares more about your stupid problems than I do!

You sure? Because I'm pretty sure I saw it in Mintcrocodile's latest post

It's still there. The rock work where the entrance to the ranch (goats) was is still standing. I think you looked in the wrong spot.
I'll be happy to be wrong. I was looking thru the construction fence across the Big Thunder trail on the river side of the closure and it sure looked pretty scrubbed clean from there. Could be I just had a bad angle. It sure looks like a foreign landscape in there though... lol

Definitely bad angle. It's hard to mark what you are looking at with how bare it is now.
Thanks for sharing. It looks like they are well on their way to having the area just west of TT ready for construction within a matter of a couple more weeks.
From MousePlanet screens are going up across the top of the cofferdam
This is what I was expecting, though I thought that the near side of the screens would be covered in some kind of scenic backdrop. Does it look like the screens are backed by bridges between the shore and the island? Or am I just imagining it?

You are right. There is a walkway in the scaffolding and I suspect that they will put up some sort of scene on the screen.
