  • Carnation and Oscar

I stopped by Carnation this afternoon and talked to Oscar. The day has been set for his retirement. His last day of work will by on the last day of March, 31 March 2008.

For those who are Oscar fans (he just celebrated his 51st year with DL) need to make arrangements to be at Disneyland that day. BTW, it is a Monday.

I will have a rable at 9 AM for breakfast, 1 PM for Lunch, and 4 PM for Dinner. Each reservations will be for ten so if you want to join in the fun email me asap at [email protected]

Wow, Disneyland won't be quite the same without Oscar.

Hope he really enjoys his retirement though, he has earned it.

I am not an AP but I will spread the word to my fellow Skips, past and present, he is a funny old timer who I always enjoyed joking with! When I once asked him how Walt felt about Jungle Cruise his reply was "What's Jungle Cruise?".... made me laugh!

Oscar is such a sweetheart! I will have to say goodbye when we're there in December. He told me the neatest stories about working at the park as a young man, when Walt would walk the park in the mornings to be sure the park was in order. It's sad that he's retiring, but, also .... good for him for being there for 51 years and embodying what DL is all about!!!!

I wonder where his window will be on Main Street?

I will make a point of eating there and ask him for anecdotes at least once during my next trip in January. He's the greatest.

Sad to see him go, he is such an amazing guy. Hopefully Disney will do something in his honor since he devoted his life to the park and the guests.

Thanks for the heads up! Looking forward to meeting him.
              Good morning, son
              In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
              It was pain
              Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I haven't had the honor of meeting him yet, but next time I'm in the park I'm going to go out of my way to do so, he sounds fascinating. As for march 31st, I'm game!

Got a chance to talk with him for a bit Halloween week.

                  Super nice guy.

Even got him to sign a copy of the loaded soup recipe!
