  • No More Pinochioo Float in POD

FYI: So my sources told me that their sources told them that the Pinochioo float is out of commission as of right now. It seems that yesterday, before the parade, the upper half of Gepetto fell off, literally. What is left is his legs. So, the parade will be without the Pinochioo unit for a while. I just want to let everyone know before someone post a thread asking why the parade is without Pinochioo.

good thing it happened before the Parade or there would have been a lot of kids who wouldn't be able to go to sleep that night

Re: No More Pinochioo Float in POD

there's only a week left in the parade before its hiatus. no one was hurt, no one was on it at the time, it happened backstage, so it's unfortunate but not a big deal.

Aw man, I hope they repair it soon. At least for when the parade comes back in January after the holidays. I was still hoping to get the Pinocchio show stop on video.

But I don't want to go among MAD people!

This section of the parade has always been my least favorite...if it never returns I'll be fine with it. LOL Thanks for the news, though.

Are you sure it was broken in the first place?

Depends on what broke, and how badly.

There are simple mechanical failures that look really bad - but get me a welder, an angle grinder and some scrap steel for reinforcement, and I can patch a lot of things back together in an hour or two. Add a spritz of black paint so nobody sees it...

If not a permanent repair, at least well enough for it to run with the parade over a weekend, and you can get the proper repair parts and do more permanent repairs tomorrow night.

Well......considering Pinocchio's nose grows when he tells a lie, I wonder what Geppetto did to break in half?

it was not any mechanical where they need to replace a part, but it was Gepetto's whole half body that fell off right before it was suppose to step off. Well, that is what I have been told anyways. I bet they basically just rewelded the two halves together.

They could definitely clean up the parade before it comes back next year. It is getting a little dusty. Anyone seen Simba lately? Yikes! They should also work on Ariel's fountain to get it working again.

It didnt happen right before the parfade, it was during the parades lunch break. My source only had limited information, and another source on VF who is a Parade Valet at DL made a thread on VF about it.

It is working, they turned it off because lighting and other equipment was getting too wet. Plus people say its off because it blows too much in the wind and gets guests wet.

ORWEN: Oh, this is so funny! Gepetto falling apart like that. The same thing happened in Florida a couple of years ago when one of the Spectro Magic floats had the same sort of thing happen. In THAT case it was Hyacinth Hippo that fell off the finger tip of Ben Aligator. For a while they replaced her with a 70's type disco ball for Ben Aligator to balance off his finger tip. It looked so hysterical, too! At least when the hippo fell, she had the decency to fall back stage before she went out on stage!

Good that it is fix I was going to DLR on friday for a little bit and I wanted to see the Parade before it when dark for Christmas. And beside the girl that is the one puppet in red and black is cute.

I was going to say that the "Christmas Fantasy" parade could buy time for them to fix Geppetto. But now that they've fixed it, my point is pretty worthless.
