Hey I'm thinking of going to apply at Disneyland on Sunday. Good idea or bad? What are the benefits they give you? Can you choose wher you want to start off? Do they give you good hours? good pay?

Re: going to apply
Is Casting even open on Sunday?? I thought they would be open Monday through Friday!! I say go for it. They are in need of as much people right now, for the holidays.
You can choose where you want to go. Hours suck once you start, but you get more with seniority. Pay is decent, not enough to pay bills with.

Re: going to apply
That's a really bad idea!
No one will be there on Sunday.
As long as you go into being a cast member knowing it's only a part-time job and not a career, then it's a great place to work. It's more of a job for college students going to school part-time or full-time before they move on to bigger and better things.
Don't get involved in drama is and be humble is the best advice I can give.

Re: going to apply
There might be some issues getting hired around now.
I've heard (right here) that they won't hire you until the background check is finished which is around two weeks. Ad a few days to get scheduled for traditions and then up to a week for training and you're close to the end of the month. Maybe not soon enough to be much help for Thanksgiving
And then that only gives you the month of December for many hours and back in January hours will decline drastically so they may not be inclined to be hiring a lot of new people now given those parameters.
Still, it eventually depends on turnover, so it's probably worth a try. But the openings, especially in particular areas such as Attractions, may be limited.

Re: going to apply
As to benefits... better read your contract... they cut a lot of that out this past go round for attractions, stores, foods, and I believe custodial and facilities as well but I am not sure. Meaning no vacation, no sick. As to hours, well you should see some because not many people stick around, but the pay is barely above minimum... oh and you have that wonderful thing called union dues.
As to the earlier comment of a part time job for college students... it used to be... but now they refuse to schedule around your classes, I've seen people forced out because their attendance was too high (because they were going to class). If you do this, do it because you want to, because in the end it may dishearten you to realize how poorly the Disney company treats those who work for it."Happiness is a Low Water Level"

Just to mention some of the positive benefits. You do get free admission into the park whenever you want. And you can bring in others up to 16 times a year. Sad thing is, you'll be so tired and disillusioned after a few weeks that coming into DL to play just doesn't have the same allure it used too.
However, if you can take a lot of stuff (another word would be more appropriate, but is not suitable for this setting) and just focus on the fact that you're working at the DLR and making memories of a lifetime for thousands, you should be able to get through the day and still go home in somewhat of a good mood. (I don't know, that's how I do it.).

Re: going to apply
Personally if I were a high school senior or college student with no skills or education I'd apply at In-N-Out before I apply at Disneyland considering the state of things these days.
The novelty of working at Disneyland eventually wears off. I can't imagine how quickly it wears off these days when you realize the backstage bathrooms are covered in graffiti. There's just no pride in the position anymore.

I have been working at Disneyland for about two years now. It really depends on what department you go into. I suggest going into something that is going to make you happy. Scheduling can sometimes be a pain, but you have to make sure that if you need any days off that you request it a while in advanced. I was able to take a vacation to Florida this summer with really not hassel. Work with your managers. The only real benefits are getting into the park, discounts, and also other discounts like movies, etc. Its a great experience. As for Drama that people are talking about, I have not experienced it. It depends on if you get involved in it or not.Jeff Wayne
