So rumors have slithered through the web about the fourth Indiana Jones film prompting updates to our Indy attraction. I'm not too fond of the idea after the changes made to POTC, but there is one change that I would absolutely encourage and rejoice over--replacing the Indy AAs. Or at least significantly overhauling them. The biggest problem is the lack of a likeness to Harrison Ford. I understand there were problems getting rights to his likeness and voice, but I'd think that this could be worked out somehow. An Indiana Jones ride where Indiana Jones doesn't look or sound like Indiana Jones...well, the fact that the attraction still feels like an Indiana Jones adventure says volumes about the its quality. But things would be so much better if all the Indys got new faces and voice tracks. The difference is all the more noticeable in sharp photos of the AAs, such as those at davelandweb.com. When you look closely, you realize that these guys look nothing like Harrison Ford. While it's difficult to get a perfect likeness, these AAs don't even try. Fixing this problem will make guests connect with the experience even more.

While WDI's at it, they may as well update the motions a little, too. Nothing extraordinarily sophisticated or anything. But the motions right now just aren't natural. The AAs look uncomfortable. Fixing this will also make suspension of disbelief all the more natural.

I wouldn't put much stock in "rumors that have slithered their way through the web" just yet. That kind of stuff flies around all the time.

Your confidence that it coukld somehow be worked out is great, but really if the problemis the star himself, and the studio is backing his stance on the matter, there wont be anything worked out in my opinion.

For me the whole "Indy doesn't look like Indy" part takes a back seat to the empty black rooms that have nothing in them.

Animatronic Indy looks NOTHING like the real Indiana Jones. Thinking about what the OP wrote, I would have to say it would definitely heighten the Indiana Jones attraction experience for me. I love that movie.

I don't mind if they don't change the animatronic figures but I would certainly hope Harrison Ford can be invited to voice it. And if you even think about the dialogue in the ride... they're not things that Indiana Jones would even say. Of course its all in the delivery and the one they have is all wrong.

If nothing else, I hope that they fix some of the effects that haven't worked in years. But a few updates of effects would be grand also.

Funny, as a big Indiana Jones fan, I never had an issue with the AA's or voice. When the ride premiered it looked and sounded like Indy to me. Sure, if compared to Harrison Ford, the likeness isn't great, but on the ride I have never noticed that.

Hey if they had a Indy face character outside promoting the ride or posing for photos I would consider that an improvement

From what I recall having worked at WDI when INDY was nearing completion, Harrison Ford had refused to give permission to use his likeness in a "carney ride" or some equally dismissive phrase. So the "Indy's" were sculpted to sort of resemble Ford, with the hopes that the costume and shady lighting would sell the image of Indy, and not give away the fact that it was not an exact likeness. Then, after being taken on an early ride-through, and being summarily impressed, Ford recanted but it was too late. Adjustments were made using paint, but underneath is the "para Ford".

Ah, so that's the story. Pity. And to think that he was just a patron of the company purveying these "carney rides" a month or so ago, when he was spotted in the park riding Space Mountain and other attractions.

So in other words, yes, it is still possible. WDI just needs to fork over the bucks to do it. Which brings me back to my original intent with this thread--WDI should fork over the bucks and do it!

I'd be very surprised if they did anything to the ride. Indy 4 is being made by Paramount. It would be like Universal Studios selling POTC stuff.

Disney has done many projects with non-Disney companies from Star Tours to Roger Rabbit.

But there's quite a difference, because there's already a deal that's allowing Indy to be "sold" at DL.

:ot:Off topic yes... but they filmed part of Indy 4 at an old WWII base near my house and my dad actually got to meet ford, lucas, and speilberg... the pictures are awesome.
