  • Did a new grocery store open near Disneyland?

I just read an article in the LA Times about the new 'Fresh & Easy' grocery store that opened up yesterday in Anaheim.

Is this located anywhere near the Park?

It's kind of exciting, as they seem to have a lot of merchandise that's different from regular grocery stores.

I wish I had one of these new stores near me.

    Anyone been there yet?

Here is the location of the Anaheim store - it isn't as close as you might like:

    LINCOLN & WESTERN
    3170 W. Lincoln Ave.
    Anaheim, CA 92801
    (714) 229-5809

But I love the concept of these new stores:
Our fruits and vegetables are hand-selected from farms we know and trust, and we date-code our produce so you always know when it's fresh.

Our meat, fish and poultry are always high-quality. We carry a range of beef raised right here in the U.S. with no antibiotics or hormones.

Our fresh&easy™ milk and butter come from cows that have not been treated with rBST, and our eggs come from cage-free chickens.

Our fresh&easy™ kitchen products are made with our own high quality ingredients, and like all our fresh&easy™ products, they contain no artificial colors, flavors and no added trans fats. They're all delivered daily to our stores, so they're always fresh.

Whenever possible, fresh&easy™ uses local farmers and suppliers. Why wouldn't we? After all, there is such a wide variety of farms and growers located right in California.

Re: Did a new grocery store open near Disneyland?

Its near the corner of Lincoln and Western. Not too close to the park, and not really a neighborhood I would like to go into.

A freind of mine lives in apartments near there and they have armed security guards patroling regularly -- that should tell you enough...

Oh and its a lot closer to Knott's Berry Farm than it is to Disneyland. You could walk to Knott's from there if you really wanted to...

wow, i'll definitely have to check it out. i do my shopping down here mostly at ralphs, albertsons, target, and trader joe's. i'd really like to be able to buy everything from trader joes, but it doesn't have the a ton of variety sometimes, so maybe this new store can help me out.
recently, i've decided that i would like to buy organic food and free-range, horomone free meat as often as i can, but it's a bit harder to do that stuff down here in orange county. i mean, i recycle everything i possibly can by putting it in the dorm recycling bins, but someone told me once that our matinence people just put it all in the dumpster with the rest of the trash sometimes. it makes me super depressed.

Oh man, I'm so excited about 'Fresh & Easy' grocery coming here.

I always shop there when I visit London. They have the best bakery, produce and ready-to-nuke-and-eat meals.

Fortunately, I have one opening 2 miles from my home in about 3 weeks. I'm just hoping they have the same format here as there. Can't wait for it to open!

Bad area and far from the park...

Wouldn't suggest anyone going there and really have no idea why a (probably) more expensive market would open in such a place.

They would never mix recycling with the trash, your school would be in big trouble otherwise.

I'm sure I saw a "Fresh 'n Easy" place of business in Las Vegas,
BUT it wasn't a grocery store.

Re: Did a new grocery store open near Disneyland?

Many of our local stores shut down in my neighborhood after the grocer strike a few years ago; making it necessary to travel to shop. Grocery shopping is a pain in the OC if you don't live in the upscale neighborhoods...my closest stores are the 99 cent Only and Food4Less :-( Trader Joe's is way too far, luckily there is a Henry's that just opened nearby, but I'm looking forward to this new store too.

And they pay more than Disney!

"We plan for every member of our staff to be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. We offer a competitive base salary and everyone is eligible for a quarterly bonus. For example, entry-level employees in California will start at $10/hour and can earn up to 10% bonus, with similarly competitive packages in Arizona and Nevada.

All our employees will be eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, which include affordable medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage; with the company picking up a majority of the costs."

I sure hope they carry Bird's Nests, like at Trader Joes!

Going to head over there tomorrow and check it out.

I think their whole philosophy is that they are a "neighborhood" store, and I think I was reading on their website, that they intentionally moved into "underserved" neighborhoods, to make organic foods available to everyone at affordable prices.

It's an interesting strategy, and seems the complete opposite of the Whole Foods Machine and Trader Joes.....but we'll see.

It would have been a bit more convenient and handy to have a location a bit closer to the Park.

Maybe the Fountain Valley store, opening in a few weeks will be closer?

Went today....not impressed. Meat looked good and at the right price, but the produce was in large quantities only, even though it did look good. The rest of the store is mostly their own brand of organic products with normal groceries thrown in for choice I suppose. To keep costs down the store itself is more like Food For Less and the staff has no clue yet about customer service.

Back to Trader Joes...much more my taste!

Re: Did a new grocery store open near Disneyland?

Lisa and I stopped by the Lincoln and Western store Saurday, and decided to not buy anything, prices weren't that great and the selection was very limited, and most stuffwas pre-packaged.

It was in a old converted Drug Store, so a lot less room than a standard supermarket.

We will stick with Stater Bros, with an occasional trip to a "R" Ranch market or Freshia for produce, or maybe the local swap meet/farmer's market for a few produce items. (and occasionally VONS, Albertson's and Ralphs, plus Trader Joe's.)

We had more fun at the Salvation Army Thrift Store next door.
