                Not exactly.

                They actually faked the faking.

                    Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

None of it makes any sense...therefore it must be true!

Heck...next thing you know, Fantasyland won't be good enough for Winnie The Pooh.

                      Oh. Wait a minute....

                        Ouch, you guys are tough.

Even though the first announcements of the Haunted Mansion appeared as early as 1963 (if memory serves), the attraction couldn't have 'fans' until its opening in 1969. New Orleans Square was opened in 1966. I think the subversive plot extends deeper than HM 'fans', Lazy--maybe all the way down to the Crab People.

Additionally, we never landed on the moon.

They used the same technology that enabled them to know that Phantom Manor would be undoubtedly inside Frontierland, the Doom Buggie TTE (Time Travel Enhanced). Seeing the post-1992 world, one slightly less trivial than our own, they set about on their quest to place The Haunted Mansion in separate lands.

It is a ticket price scam, more lands then more to do, more to do more value, more value higher ticket prices.

Next stop, New Orleans Square, Frontierlend.

That's how I remember it. That's how it will always be. New Orleans Square, an address within Frontierland. What's this blasphemy of New Orleans Square being it's own land?

I'm clearly on the fence on this issue.

It seems to me that when the Haunted Mansion opened in 1969, it was the only Mansion in the Disney Universe. For that matter, Disneyland was the only Disney Park at that time. So, by default, the Mansion was already unique.

Yes, but the WDW Mansion didn't open until 1971. Which means for two full years, Disneyland's Haunted Mansion was the only one out there.
