      Re: Disneyland Tours

Does anyone know which tour would be better.........Walk in Walt's Footsteps or the Holiday tour? Can anyone give me an idea of where the Walk in Walt's tour goes and does for 3 1/2 hours? Heard a rumor that there is a glimpse of the apartment over the fire station. Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks in advance! We'll be there Dec 2 through the 7th. Staying at DL hotel and are all really really crazy excited!!!!! Have been going to DL since '59 and it always seems like the first time!!!! But we've never done one of the tours. Thanks for the info!

              Re: Disneyland Tours

Since I book these tours at the park, where would you like me to start???

WIWF tour is 3 1/2 hours and it also gives you lunch.. You also get to go inside the lobby of Club 33, too!!

The holiday tour is 2 1/2 hours but also includes VIP reserved seating for the parade, at which point you get desert and beverage included. The holiday tour takes you on Haunted Mansion Holiday and Small World Holiday, among other things, also.. will be able to tell you more after I go on it on Wednesday afternoon..

Oh great!!!! Now I have to make a choice. I think I am leaning towards WIWF
especially if we get to see inside the apartment. I'd way rather see it than the lobby of Club 33. Great input from you all. Keep it coming!!! My snotty sister said I was a nerd for being on this site all the time. Guess she won't be getting the tour as a gift when we go!!! hahah!!!

                  Re: Disneyland Tours

Both tours are terrific. Walk in Walts: I have been twice. Both times you start on Main Street and see everything and here everything that Walt did. We got a glimpse of Club 33's lobby. They even let us take pictures in side the lift that goes up to the restaurant. We also toured Disney Gallery and learned about each room. Then, we had lunch on the patio there. You ride rides that he was so much a part of and learn so much. The lunch (great lunch) is no served at the Tour Guide office next to the left tunnel as you come in the park. We received a pin too.

The Holiday Tour is another terrific tour. You start on Main Street and end right in front of Small World with seating just for your group. It's a beautiful spot watching the lights on Small World. And, great seats for the holiday parade. We received hot chocolate a treat and a pin. I LOVE this tour at the holidays. They tell you all about the holidays that are celebrated by many different countries. We rode Haunted Mansion Holiday, Small World (beautiful at Christmas) and walked to every part of the park that had holiday decorations. This one is terrific if you want the holidays to surround you on your trip.

For me, if I had to vote, because it's the holiday then the holiday tour. If that is what you decide, next time you come to the park, do take the Walts Tour. It's offered all year long.

                    Re: Disneyland Tours

I have been on both and both were wonderful.

WIWF - starts on MS and gives in depth history about Walt's touches. This tour does not go systematically throughout the park. It will jump from the west side to the east side and back again. You do get to see a 1960's Tiki Room animatronic flower and the lobby of Club 33. The apartment over the fire station was not a part of it.

Holiday Magic Tour - wonderful. You see all the special decorations that aren't out in plain view. Be prepared to sing! We got a piece of fudge at the candy shop, were allowed to ride HMH and IASW before we got our travel mug of hot chocolate and big soft gingerbread cookie. Seating for parade were actual seats across from IASW.

I would suggest doing both, the Holiday tour now and WIWF when the holidays are over.

                        Re: Disneyland Tours

You absolutely do not get to enter Walt's Firehouse Apartment on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps, you need quite a bit more clout than a $59 tour to do that! Perhaps the apartment mentioned was part of one of the old versions of the tour, where we had lunch on the patio of the Disney Gallery. Obviously, and quite sadly, this is no more.

Fear not, the WIWF tour is still a fantastic experience! It's a lot of wonderful information about some of the special places in the park, various Imagineers and their personal touches and work, as well as some fantastic stories of Walt himself. It's presented in a very personal manner, with each guide it's a little bit different. Word on the street is that it's going to be undergoing another bit of upgrading, so those of you that have taken the tour before, there's going to be some great new information added sometime soon!

                            Re: Disneyland Tours

I know I'm repeating, but it's important: You DONT get to see Walt's Apartment on WIWF. You DO get to see the lobby of the club, the inner workings of the Tiki Room, and a ton of fun stories about Walt & the imagineers. Contrary to earlier posts, it's not like a scavenger hunt - THAT'S the Discover the Magic tour!

The Holiday tour is about holiday treats, caroling, different cultures and how they celebrate, and all the different ways the holidays are celebrated in the park. It's a LOT of fun.

The Welcome to Disneyland tour is great for first timers. It's a good way to learn tips for seating & dining, how fastpass works, things you absolutely shouldn't miss, etc. You also ride 3 attractions ON the tour and get 2 more fastpasses at the end, so sometimes seasoned vets of the resort take the tour just to get some of those rides done. It's also the only current tour that takes you through BOTH parks.

I'm a guide - PM me if you want real details on any of the tours. I do WIWF, I did Happiest Haunts, and I will be doing Holiday Tour!

Whichever you pick, you'll have a blast! Maybe I'll see you!

:bow:WOW!!!!!!! Thank you for the excellent first hand information!!! We might just have to take both tours!!! Now I am even more excited!!! Maybe you could also let me know what the tour pace is like. While we don't have anyone with mobility concerns in our group I do tend to slow fast walkers down from knee and ankle injuries in the past. Just not as quick as I used to be. I have said it before and I'll say it again.......I love MC and all the resources here!!! If I can ever answer any questions about AZ or Grand Canyon let me know! Thanks again so so much!

Pace varies by tour guide, but the vast majority of guides adjust for their specific group. When we're on our own we tend to be VERY quick walkers (I made it from the drive at the Grand to Splash Mountain in 8 minutes!), BUT on tour, we slow down a lot. We also BEG our guests to tell us if we're moving too fast or too slow. In the end, we're there for you to have a good time, so we will adjust to whatever needs the guest has.
