I think those boxes hide all the pyro launchers used in the fireworks shows.

And also notice the arches in the top center, above where Walt is walking. In the old photo they were opened to the air. Now they are covered by a window. Maybe that was added when they put in the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough?

The back side was closed off for the addition of the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough back in April of 1957.

Thank you WDI33, but what about the walls on the sides? They don't seem to have any roof over them, and they look like they could almost slide out of the way or something, the way they are partitioned. Anyone have blueprints? Fireworks show info?

The walls do have roofs. They are th walls for the old Castle walk through as was previously mentioned. It has nothing to do with fireworks.

The fireworks I believe are in light blue boxes to the far left and far right sides of the castle. If you take a look at live local you can see the boxes.

Here's some diagrams for the fireworks from the city of Anaheim. It looks like they took down the link to this from their website, but didn't delete the PDF file... http://www.anaheim.net/images/articl...ome%20True.pdf

Just scroll down for all the launch and storage locations, including the castle. It's neat stuff. Hope this helps!
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Yeah, it's very interesting stuff, especially how every single shell is accounted for.
