  • What's with the Space Mountain Que?

At the park yesterday, Space Mountain GG posted wait time was 25 minutes so we decided to go for it. Noticed the FP line was pretty long, but the standby wasn't bad. After waiting 20 minutes, they announced that the wait time was now 70 minutes. A lot of people left the line. We noticed that some of the people who left the line suddenly appeared in the FP line entering the building. They were not using the scanners there so people were just walking in. Ugh!

We finally made it into the building and noticed that the FP line was turning left and through the door, while the standby line went right (like normal). The standby line stopped before the first turn. We got out of the line at that point. Does anyone know where they merge the FP/Standby lines? Are they doing the second scan there? Just wondering...

Hmm? Wonder if they are possibly testing keeping the queue from being on the terrace since standby now has it's own room? This could be a method of testing the ability of bringing FP inside as well. If they could remove guest from the terrace area they could replace the area with something else or remove it which may be in their future plans for the eventual TL redux. The days of any "theater" for theme park guests are numbered, it seems more people visit the DL theaters as more of a break from the weather then for the subject being promoted or projected.

The Fast Pass queue now merges in the same location it did from 1999-2003.

As for the secondary scanners, the past year Disney has been eliminating them from all FastPass attractions. The only attraction in both parks that still uses its merge FP scanners is Splash Mountain, and only when its busy.

This is baffling to me, I understand it can slow down the merges but at a lot of rides it’s just too easy for people to jump the line.

The ride may have gone to reduced capacity for one reason or another.

If they drop rockets, the line will move slower.
