I was looking forward to this visit. We had planned on getting to the park early and it's so rare that we do that lately. You see, In a change in routine Dusty and I were up and about early this Sunday morning. An 8:30am hair appointment (weird huh?) had us up and ready to head to the resort well ahead of the noon meet. This was nice as we got to see parts of the park we normally avoid. Also it was a special day
Heading up the freeway we listened to my brand new little Mix of songs I put together for the holidays. It's called the Cracked up Candy Cane Christmas mix and you can buy it off of Itunes. Cool huh?
Anyway, we pulled up to parking lot X and were directed in. We got a great spot near the front of the lot and made our way to the resort.
The security tents were prety crowded but it moved smoothly enough. We got into the park and my top priority was a Space Mountain FP. As many times as I get them we hardly ever end up using them because we never stay past about 5pm.

What's going on at the Castle?
But we were at the park early so I hoped that the return time was good.
We wandered through Tomorrowland for a bit trying to figure out what people do at Disneyland at such an early hour. The morning was crisp, cool and foggy but yet there were a ton of people milling about. I guess there is no such thing as the off season anymore. After a bit of meandering we endd up in Toon Town where Roger Rabbit's Car toon spin had a 10 minute wait. GOLDEN! we went for it.
This is a pretty fun dark ride. Wonderful immersive themeing in the queue and throughout the ride sets it apart. I really hope another movie is in the works.Toon Town is pretty good, when it's not a million degrees and strollers are running over your feet every five minutes because there isn't a square inch of elbow room.
Coming out of Toon Town we veered into Fantasyland and through to Frontierland. Still too much going on at Big Thunder. What else is it we never do? Tarzan's Tree house.

The Mark Twain in the misty morning

Jazzercise still exists?

The view from the treehouse down onto the Riverbelle Terrace work
Meh. It was okay.
Jungle Cruise was next. Nice job by our skiper.

Strollerville outside of the JC queue
Okay, so Trader Sam just looks downright creepy. Did I tick him off?
We got off of the Jungle Cruise and who was there at the exit?

StitchTT6 and her family.
It was time to go to the meet. We were a bit early, 11:40, but people were already there.

After the meet Dusty and I had to take off. We had Lunch reservations at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen.

Snap Dragons at the Main Street Station
We met up with TicTocDragon, His wife, daughter and Mother in Law for lunch.
It was great, and TTD's 10 month old daughter is ADORABLE! So cute.

A little bird was bathing in the courtyard fountain
After lunch Dusty and I thought we would make good on our Space Mountain Fast Passes. Before that, however, we stopped by the castle to get a close lok at the castle effects during the day. In a word? Eyesore.
I have not seen the Castle effects at night but from what I hear they are nothing short of spectacular. But I can tell you that during the day the icicles are shockingly cheap.
It truly looks like, to me anyway, like they decorated the castle with white, curly ribbon and string lights form Target. The least they could have done was incase the icicles in faux ice so that they didn't look so, well, suburban?

The snow caps on the turrets look pretty good
Furthermore, the back side of the castle is not decorated and merely serves as a facade for the front. Pretty bad show.

The front gets attention whereas the back is bare.

Wires dangle haphazardly tucked into crevices. You can almost see the price tags on the extension cords

A shot through the castle down Main Street
We left the castle...

Miss you Disneykat
And headed to Space Mountain

through King triton's gardens
It had been a while since I had been on it and, after WDW's sorry version a couple of weeks ago, the contrast is surprisingly refreshing.
Getting off of the ride I found the exit to be in terrible disrepair
It was time to leave.

We ran into PrincessAngela on the way out.
It was a great visit to the DLR.

THE END!!!
