  • [Review] Haunted Mansion 50th - Ghost Mariner's Seafood Boil is a must try!

The Haunted Mansion 50th - Ghost Mariner's Seafood Boil is delicious.

It's a lot of food. Nice big Shrimp (peeled but with tails on), baby potatoes (purple and red colored), onions, corn on the cob and spicy Andouille sausage in a garlic butter sauce with a nice hunk of sourdough bread for soaking up that sauce.

And it's got some bold flavors. you can smell and taste the garlic, the spices and that butter. My daughter said it was spicier than she's used to eating, but in a good way. This is an adult dish but not beyond the palates of many adventurous kids.

The biggest drawback is that, because it is sold at the Harbour Galley, finding a place to sit and eat may be a problem. And you will need a place with a proper table, because this is not a dish you can eat on the go (we ended up finding a table at the Hungry Bear.) Be warned: it's messy! Disney doesn't skimp on the butter (might be a half stick of butter in the plastic bag it's served in), and you will need to use your hands to eat the corn and possibly the shrimps. So make sure to grab a stack of napkins.

By the way, the 13th Hour Brew is a great pairing. It's real, strong iced coffee rather than the sugary confections sold elsewhere. In fact, the coffee itself is unsweetened and the vanilla cream it's topped with is rich tasting and only adds a touch of sweetness.

Sadly, both of these are limited time offerings, and probably just for the Halloween season, so enjoy them while you can.

Totally agree about that shrimp boil, Ghost Mariner's Seafood Boil. It really is a standout.

Ain't nothin' as good as a Low Country Boil! Delicious!

This is something they could make a permanent part of the menu at a sit down place. It's a lot easier to eat at proper table with cutlery. Although that defeats the purpose, which is finger licking and lip smacking.

Which food venue do you think would be the best fit? I love that it is at Harbour Galley, but the lack of seating is a problem.

I'm thinking Hungry Bear. It needs to be near the River. And I loved the fact that it was served in a plastic bag, which concentrated the savory aromas and I agree the finger licking and lip smacking aspect was a lot of fun. It seems to me that a counter serve location works better for this. Provide moist towelettes!

Here's another thought: how about when they remove Haunted Mansion's paper fastpass dispenser, they consider reconfiguring the area to be picnic style seating?

I could also imagine Blue Bayou serving this. They'd probably plate it, and make it less juicy, but it would still be a tasty dish.

Overflow picnic style seating is a good idea. It needs to be served in a bag that you can lay down on a table to share. Blue Bayou would turn it into something it's not.

And they'd probably charge $40 instead of $16 for it.

Maybe French Market or Cafe Orleans? They could serve it in one of those metal buckets that they used to use at BTMBBQ. They could even line it with the plastic bag or better yet brown paper. As close as you'll get to a big ol' pot of Boil poured onto a table.

NOT Blue Bayou. That's too 'shi-shi foo-foo' for a LCB. It's Country Food at its best.

OK, y'all. I'm getting my big pot out this weekend!!!

French Market would be great for this, I agree. Carry a bucket full of LCB to your table, dig in and watch the live music. The only problem is, it would probably be so popular that it would be nearly impossible to find a seat there!

Yeah, or they'd make it an 'AP exclusive'.

That would convince me to get an AP if I didn't already have one!
