  • Sneaky Disney PR?

Is it surprising that shortly after Universal announces they'll be adding 14,000 new jobs for their new Epic theme park, Disney comes out now (5 months after GE opening) saying that they added 15,500. I suppose the grade-school "well mine is better" games never go away. And of course they didn't mention any of the layoffs.

DISNEY "PR" is only worth a grain a salt .........
Most of the time ,they don't share full truth
    IMO

      There were layoffs at Disneyland???
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

No mention of laying off CM positions. No mention of cutting back CM hours. No mention of the live entertainment they've eliminated. Just more of the same PR alternate-reality as when Chapek raved about Star Wars Land being a success:

“I will tell you that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has exceeded every expectation we’ve had,” Bob Chapek, the chairman of Disney’s Parks, Experiences and Consumer Experiences, told CNBC. “There is no there there to this being anything but a runaway success.”

"Disneyland is often called a magic kingdom because
it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,
        designed to appeal to everyone."

        - Walt Disney

"Disneyland is all about turning movies into rides."
        - Michael Eisner

        "It's very symbiotic."
        - Bob Chapek

Very true. They also have a lot of live entertainment and they are a super value. Especially in comparison to another theme park down the road.

I seem to remember this about Disneyland once upon a time.

                    Ah, nostalgia.

im not trying to be a jerk, but it blows my mind that universal studios attendance is up. Maybe its because i live so close, but every time i go there i leave upset that the lines are so crazy, a frnt of the line pass is almost $200 and all the rides are screens and not really kept up that well. But maybe i am the minority here
