  • A Tower of Terror is closer than you might think

CHECK OUT the Newest update videos!!
I think that alot of us were sad to see the Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure be lost to Disney History. Well over the past months, I have been working on my own version of the Tower of Terror Basement Elevator recreation complete with functional lighted elevator dial, simulated lightning, thunder and even rain as well as multiple other special effects and props to tell my own version of the Tower of Terror story, including a custom narration by Mark Silverman, the voice of Rod Serling. Here are a few clips of SOME of the effects created so far which can be found on the the Tower of Terror Theater Youtube channel.

      Very interesting.

BTW, not sure if it was just for filming purposes, but I would suggest your lighting make use of the classic Edison Bulbs. The white LED/CFL lighting is just too harsh. Not only is it period accurate, but it gives a warm ambiance feeling.

They have them in LED too.

I like the short circuit effect. Your's is more sophisticated, however if anyone is interested, you can get a similar "short circuited" power panel from https://www.halloweenfxprops.com/sho...p-animatronic/

Yes I am planning to change out the mini cans to reproduction period fixtures with bulbs as you suggest. Still a work in progress.

That is some commitment. Well done.

I have always said if I had the time wanted to add rock work in my garage to make it look like the Bat Cave.

WOW! That is AWESOME! I love it. And this is just part of your basement that you modified?

When I saw the title of this thread, I was hoping we might be getting our Tower back!

While that wasn't what I found, I will still say: very cool! Incredible looking work! The devotion and love shown by some fans never ceases to amaze me. You wouldn't also happen to be the same person who converted their basement into a re-creation of Fantasyland, would you? Either way, nicely done! Nice to know the Tower continues to live on in the hearts and minds of so many.

No I don't have a mini-Fantasyland at my home; although I have to say the thought of converting my garage into a spaceship from 2001 or Star Wars has crossed my mind LOL.

This is the front entrance to my theater room, which started out as an attached bonus room. Here is what is inside the "elevator doors."

I think the funniest reaction I have gotten is from people that have never been to Disneyland/WDW and have never heard of the Tower of Terror who wonder why anyone would add a dirty, old dungeon-looking room to their home. I tell them that I keep the chains and torture equipment inside the room.

You mentioned the Batcave. Have you seen this Home theater, which I think is the most impressive one I have ever seen bar none. Cost millions.

Being the entrance to a home theater and game room makes it even cooler! Very very cool. What is that on the ceiling, a big mirror?

And wow, seeing the Sega Time Traveler arcade game is a blast from the past! Haven’t seen that since it came out almost 30 years ago.

The ceiling has star tiles simulating a starry night sky, and they are covered by smart glass panels which are opaque until energized when they become clear revealing the star tiles.
