  • Disneyland Candy Costs Temp Higher?

We were at Downtown Disney and were going to buy some of the peanut brittle they sell there. It was $12.xx yet a few months ago it was $5.99. The cashier didn't know if this was a new permanent price or temporary she said. The toffee nut version of the candy was $14.49 and that is up a smaller amount from $12.99.
I bought some anyway since they were gifts, but I did notice the packaging is changed also now, you no longer get the toffee in a "tray" package, and the clear portion of the package is mostly obscured now to where you have to "feel" the contents to be sure its' not broken.
Any input? I wanted to buy more but thought I'd wait till next month and maybe the price is back to where it was? And packaging back to the better version?
The new version was resealable which is better, but about double the cost for the peanut brittle.

We bought the toffee months ago and it was $14.49 before they used the new packaging the new packaging is mere cents and should not affect the pricing from the two part packaging they previously had with the tray and decal. The new resealable bag is possibly even cheaper when you consider it's one piece and the time saved not having to set up a tray and apply a decal etc. If the brittle truly went from $5.99 to $12.xx then that is some serious gouging even by Disney standards.

What about the candy in the case? Is that also made in FL? Last time I bought English toffee, the clerk tried to upsell me to a full bag for 14.99. She said the bag and case candy came from the same place. I had hoped that candy was fresher than that.

This is just sad -- another pathetic grab for profits from the Chapek regime. It's reminiscent of what happened after Eisner promoted Paul Pressler from head of Disney Stores to head of Disneyland, and demanded that he deliver double-digit profits. One of Paul's tactics was to flood DL with Disney Store merch. They didn't even bother to take off the Disney Store price tags, just stuck Disneyland tags over them. But the small DL tags didn't completely cover the DS tags -- you could peel them off and see how much the price had increased.

it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,
            designed to appeal to everyone."

            - Walt Disney

"Disneyland is all about turning movies into rides."
            - Michael Eisner

            "It's very symbiotic."

If this is indeed the case, it's just one more example of Disney losing a connection with it's customer base and becoming nothing more than a money grubbing conglomerate.

Where once Disney stood for "Value", "Good character", and "Trust worthiness", they are fast becoming no different than any other sleazy corporate entity.

I suppose this is the standard OP for MBA shysters.

.......Disney for years now ,has become "GREEDY",
and the name has been drag into the dirt ,and been dis-connection with most of the
                      customer base
                      with there High Price !

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of the peel off stickers. I don't have an AP anymore so I can't compare the price outside the park to inside. I want to get a new pass, but over the last year with it we were being gouged with rising costs at about every visit. Just two years ago we used to go buy a pretzel at the Coke Corner place (only place you could get the AP discount on them we were told). It was $3. But now they are over $5 if I remember right. A hot dog is now about $10. A plastic bucket to put popcorn in is $10 or more that really costs just pennies to make. But people line up for hours to buy this stuff. I see it not just at Disneyland, but at restaurants also all over the place. I was at an RV show recently at hot dogs were $12. I think as long as people keep paying for it the costs will continue to rise.
Disney likes to say that they keep costs in line with other entertainment, but that is technically not correct, because in doing so, each place will raise and raise prices again and again, theoretically matching prices.
Admission at $600 for a family of four is outrageous, but people pay it. My coworkers are saving to go, little bit each paycheck. I told them keep saving, prices are going up, I would guess next year quite a bit. And to bring their own food if they can. Or maybe buy a single candy cane at I would guess must be about $15 or so now.

                          Fact
no matter were you go now........"it's pay more and get less"
But Disney have taken way over the line.....than most place's!
Sad.......there many Family's ,that can't afford even the admission price... nor more !
                          It a lot more than
                          price increased.
