Figured I'd start off the questions hopefully I can get an answer and if anyone has other questions I thought this would be a great place to ask them. My question is I'm going to the park for opening day and I'll be there at all the posted times (2am for the parking) ~5am for security and 8am for the opening) If I get in a boarding group, do I HAVE to board then or can I wait to board later in the day? I know it doesn't seem like any sense but if I'm late to my boarding group (not early) can I still ride the attraction?

If DIsneyland keeps things the same as WDW... you have a 2 hour return window from when your number was first called. Similar to Fast Pass, you cannot ride later if you miss your window (return time). If attraction is 101/down, the returning group numbers are stopped until things are back up. I assume evac'd guests (like WDW) will receive a pass to return later in day.
Of course everything is subject to change. We'll find out Friday!

Good call, I too have a question that hopefully someone could answer: I won't be there opening day but will be there the next (Jan.18th), does anyone know if they are planning to do this whole 2am thing all weekend long or are they only allowing people to line up insanely early on the actual opening day? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I will be there early in the morning and early afternoon, but I have to leave for work around 3 and won't be back to the park around 8. I guess I just hope I get an early group or a late group, if I get a group in the middle I might be in trouble.
Hope you can ride!!

I am wondering will there be enough boarding group windows to accommodate all the guests who aren't staying at the hotels or getting in with multi-day passes during the Magic Mornings. Will they wait until normal business hours before releasing the reservation window for Boarding Passes?
We stayed last fall at the resort and noticed the Magic Morning were not as empty as it used to be and then found out that multi-day passes were being allowed in for MagiMorning as well. Let's just say our desire to stay at the resort dropped significantly that day as the MM was a great perk we enjoyed until they did this making it seem just as crowded as normal hours.Last edited by Starcade; 01-15-2020, 03:42 PM.Disneyland Fan since the 70's

So, according to the config for the virtual queue, DL is currently expecting to only have a 1 hour return time and not 2 hours like DHS.
This could obviously be changed easily but if not it will be interesting to see how it changes the groups being called.
EDIT:
So, here's what I can tell.
Boarding groups opened at exactly 8:00:01.
They distributed the initial allotment by 08:00:23.
Backup boarding groups then went live at 08:00:54.
Backup boarding groups are starting at 82, which is fairly low compared to WDWs backup group starts.
My best speculation is that DLR is running smaller groups + lower guaranteed groups to make sure they don't have to distribute many comp tickets on the first few days.

Today is the day Disneyland's newest kid on the block opens up: Rise of the Resistance attraction. I've got one question here: why didn't it have to be about the forces of Darth Vader versus the forces of Luke Skywalker? It makes sense to have a ride with Darth Vader.
