Good morning Waltineers! A certain highly reliable vlogger with a British accent is talking, in his latest episode, about rumors of upcoming improvements to GE. These include new missions in Smugglers Run later this year, more characters roaming the land and, in the more distant future, a possible Star Wars indoor rollercoaster-type attraction to sit on the pad to the east of Smuggers Run and west of Toontown. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link under community rules. Any thoughts?

My thoughts are a lot of promises have been made about SW:GE and these promises become rumors...and then these rumors never come true. In short, I have learned to keep my hopes in check. SW:GE does need some improvements if they hope to maximize the area. New Missions for Smugglers to me should have happened on day one. After 3 rides I was over the attraction not only because I can play video games at home but mainly because the story doesn't change and it's not a very compelling one to be honest. Characters roaming the land also would not be so much an improvement as much as a previous promise finally kept. An indoor coaster in the expansion pad could be done as Space Mtn. would fit in that spot but I was actually hoping they would move Star Tours over there and give Tomorrowland more freedom to finally get back to its more original vision.Last edited by Starcade; 01-24-2020, 03:37 PM.Disneyland Fan since the 70's

I would much rather have a sit down restaurant experience that has simulated windows looking out into space, or down onto the planet Batuu. Part of the experience could be much like the portion of the Rise of the Resistance attraction, where you 1st enter a simulator that takes you up to your “Space Station” dining experience.
Something like the "Space 220" Restaurant coming to EPCOT.

I definitely don't think the land needs another screen-based attraction, even ST.
1. Third pad should be an outdoor coaster that uses that area + the southern edge of the land where they planned to have the Bantha ride track. Put in a lot of OT elements that the ride interacts with, like going through a Sandcrawler w/jawas, angry Tuskens, just missing a spacecraft landing/taking off, and a full size automated AT-ST walker and biker scouts. Make the ride vehicles maybe speeder bikes as well, based on the Hagrid ride at Universal. Make them generate cool sounds when the run by the pathways for the other guests to hear.
2. For the 4th pad by the Critter Country entrance, put in a family ride that's accessible to the little ones. Maybe a TIE vs X-Wing spinner, but with a little more control for the riders to pilot the ships in and out as well as up and down, and shoot at the other ships.
3. Find a way to put in some full size fighters and speeders that you can sit in for photo ops. Maybe a special hangar just for some iconic vehicles and character meet and greets from all trilogies: Luke's X-Wing and landspeeder, Snowspeeder, Naboo Fighter, and Darth Vader's TIE fighter, for example.

I think it'd be great to see most of these improvements. I get that things like entertainment were previous promises or whatever but honestly whatever shape it takes I'll accept the improvement. Weather it be finally intituting origional plans or some form of hybrid where they use the tech/techniques but with more popular characters.
I think with the Falcon the speed at which we get new missions is going to be based more on what it takes to actualy get these sequences up. Feels like Star Tours stalled out on its initial promise because Disney realized the heavy logistics and expenses invovled in swapping thigns out for the origional ride. Now with newer tech it feels like Disney's having a much easier time hammering out new sequences in rapid order for whatever the next event/movie is.
I do think adding at least a few other sequences is going to be necessary for the Falcon. A real challenge for Disney is going to be weather they want to embrase the AP heavy audience in California and introduce a few higher tier missions that can be unlocked by scoring well on the opening missions. I think first off they'll need to just complete their plans on introducing a variety of mission types though as that would help them on any of the coasts with replay value.
The coaster idea is interesting. I think that when I judge that place in the park it might not be a bad idea. Disneyland does have a decent portion of thrills but I can't deny that at least one big thrill ride would give the land a variety for all markets baring I guess the small children. I'm not really sure as to the intensity of Rise of the Resistance but I'd I keep hearing that despite everything it's definitely family angled.
I used to be for the space effeciency of moving Star Tours but when I'm honest with myself I kinda doubt Disney will ever move attractions are try to place things in an order like that. A thrill ride would probably fill a need more than a convenient way of resolving my OCD issues by building a Jedi Temple next to a space shifted Star Tours.
The Bantha transport ride would certainly fill in the small children market if they ever put it forward or at least it seems like it would since I'd assume it'd be slower than the rest while also being outdoors so there wouldn't be alot of sudden sounds or movements that can upset the younger ones.
If they threw the transportaiton in along with the Coaster I think it'd a great supercharge for the land. Ultimately thought he land is going to need that indoor Resturant idea somewhere. We need an Oga's cantina on Steroids with alien entertainment and characters walking in and out with a capacity much larger than Oga's to really please the audiences.

Not to say an outdoor coaster is a bad idea. I'd love a speeder bike attraction and I remember when it was rumored that Disney really was investigating that but I just don't think that particular pad would be suited for such a thing.
I'd also really perfer they didn't have a spinner since it'd destory the immersion of the land and kinda lower things back down to a more traditional theme park level.
I do like a fighers sit in for at least a few of them for photo ops. It's right up there with the chess table on the falcon."We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"

Cheapek already cancelled the WDI plans for multiple Falcon missions at launch. His ego is way too big to admit he was wrong on that. Dude is clueless.
See the thread about the news coming out of China - but it's pretty obvious that Cheapek isn't gonna green light any big money spending any time soon.
SW:GE will be in its current form for a while.

The land needs a lot of work to feel like Star Wars. In don't foresee anything new going into SWGE for a long time. They probably feel like it's a success 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm sure it makes them money but of they actually knew anything about Star Wars and how to market it..... It would have been a lot more profitable. If they had just built ROTR by itself and plopped it into TL it would have been better than what we got with a whole land. These are some of my favorite TRs I have posted

I'd like them to do the Bantha ride, and of course the restaurant should have always been there. They are having more characters from what I have seen. That's not an expensive fix--and why they left themselves exposed by cancelling the original plans for characters and actors is beyond me to understand. I can only think they thought we'd show up in happy droves for even a stripped down Star Wars experience, or they're just clueless.

The Bobs are too cheap to increase the daily labor costs that additional characters walking the land would incur. But it would be pretty awesome, so I don't see any chance of it. The Bobs are in the business of increasing profits via reducing labor costs with automation so I don't see them doing anything that would increase costs unless their backs are against the wall.
Possibly a new churro or special edition popcorn bucket instead.

Watched the video. The proposed area for the 3rd ride literally makes no sense. Those are storage areas for fantasmic, galaxys edge costuming, and galaxys edge entertainment costuming. Even then, that space is barely half the size that's being used for runaway railroad, so it wouldn't be that big of a ride. As for the entertainment aspect, if they're going to phase out the timeline, they should move phasma from tomorrowland and put her back there. As for 3p0 that will definitely not be happening for a longggg time.

The only improvement I want is to change the area to the timeline of the OT trilogy instead of the new trilogy. Granted, ROTR can stay the same, but the new trilogy will be forgotten in about 10 years while people will have forever fond memories of Darth Vader, traditional looking Stormtroopers, a Yoda appearance, etc.. It's just odd to keep it smackdab between Last Jedi and Rise.

I also think they should use the proposed Bantha track route. This land desperately needs some movement and life added to it. Can't have a land of just rock walls without anything going on.

I’ve said before that GE feels like DCA circa 2002. Lots of wasted space but it’s glorious to look at. I’d like to see them break it up into sections. Have a Original Trilogy area, Eps 1-4 and then current films. That way everyone is happy and then you can also start removing Star Wars from Tomorrowland.

The one thing I’d like right now is to get rid of the current MFSM mission (stealing coaxium) and change it to something that deals more with smuggling...like in the beginning you are being loaded up with supplies or a person in the hangar (all seen on video) that you need to smuggle past the First Order to a resistance base and return. Or the other way around where you need to pick someone or something up and smuggle it past the First Order and bring it back to Batuu. Make it a bit more exciting with fights against Tie Fighters in space or even a run in with Kylo Ren and his Tie Silencer. There are so many different missions they could come up with to give guests reasons for coming back after they have gone on the ride as each job.
