  • Cast Member Showing of "Magic Happens"...

I read the new parade, "Magic Happens", had an exclusive showing the other night for cast members only. Any cast members on here who saw it and care to give their feedback on how it was? By what I read, it seemed to be a big success and an over-all hit with everyone.

Hi! I was there last night. They also did a soft opening for media today at 1! As most of you know, Paint the Night will always be my favorite parade overall, with its amazing theming, music, and wonderful colors! However, WOW MAGIC HAPPENS WAS SO GOOD. I watched it from Main Street last night, so the floats started showing up around 11:45. While this is going to be a daytime parade, it looks great at night too! All of the Fab 5 were dressed in similar outfits to Mickeys which were super colorful and fun. I think my favorite floats were probably the opening unit, Moana, and Sword in the Stone. My biggest concern coming into this was the music, when I heard the song at D23, I was concerned about how the music would seamlessly transition from one float to the other similar to how Soundsational and Paint did. Tbh, everyone on mainstreet was cheering so loud I couldn't hear much. However, I reviewed the video from todays performance and can say that they did an awesome job with that too! Magic Happens is truly a unique experience that has never been done before. It's a very close tie for me, but Magic Happens is probably my favorite daytime parade, while Paint is my favorite Night Time parade.

Please add Snow White (and Alice) - it doesn't seem like Disneyland without them.

I thought the parade was very... mediocre. I felt it was trying too hard to be “modern”. It had a lack of Disney magic and charm. Pretty ironic for a parade called Magic Happens. Sorry, I’m not a fan. Just my opinion.

Also, when hearing Todrick Hall’s voice I kept thinking “nails, hair, hips heels”. Lol

interesting to see someone else respond the same way... did not see the parade, saw collections of the costumes..

thought "edgy" a corny and old term that makes me laugh, code for trying too hard

lack of Disney natural charm, happens all too often when they are thinking "the people want something different" or a designer is "making their mark" rather than understanding the guests

so, CASP and the underwhelming "dance party" taking the evocative Disney theme music and making it all the same... like mixing all the colors of clay together
            and getting gray...

the reason the line is longer at RSR than SR... and too many find GE dreary, dull... underwhelmed...

the trick is to make it fresh and still be Disney

walking out of GE, lines longer for sodas and popcorn in fantasy land

I wonder how people are going to respond to being made "prisoners"
watching the crowd response the the Imperial rant in GE... not comfortable and not enjoying it...

            it's interesting

Glad to see Merlin and Wart - but why is Merlin so spastic? He doesn't move like that in the movie.

It doesn't seem like the CM or choreographer has ever watched Merlin, I agree- he should calm down a lot. I know it's a minor thing, but sure seems weird during parade!

The parade floats are very well designed. Even if they are smaller in design, I think the quality is excellent.

I have mixed feelings over the costumes. Some are ok, others I feel like they should be redesign(the dancers costumes for the Mickey's float costume are tacky, IMHO).

The music is ok. It does have a catchy tune.

Love this parade or hate it, there's one thing that can't be denied: The longstanding Disneyland tradition still lives that parade performers pour their hearts into the show every time they go onstage.

"Disneyland is often called a magic kingdom because

                        designed to appeal to everyone."

They are doing that! I watched the video. It seems like one of the most physically demanding parades I can ever remember!

I told myself that a Disney parade put together in such a short amount of time would not produce the best results. Well, my fears are partly true imo. Some of the floats look rushed and the details could be a bit better. Some of it just felt underwhelming, even from the moment when Mickey came along with his magic. This is just my opinion. I’ve seen better.

The parade has been in development since last summer. They have had at least 8 months to work on the parade. I don't know how much more time they would need to work on it?

The Cheshire Cat would be a nice addition to the walking "magic characters" - they have a costume from Halloween I believe (WDW has one).

Its been In development for a couple years actually, they mentioned that in one of their promo videos. It takes a lot longer than 8 months to put a parade together.
