today marks the day Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped off the Lunar Module and walked on the Moon...I forgot about this date until I saw a documentary on Science Channel...brought back good memories of that day...

I am old. But still love Disneyland.

July 20, 1969: Disney Broadcasts Apollo 11 Moon Landing in Tomorrowland

"In 1969, Disneyland faced the future with great optimism when the new Tomorrowland debuted, bringing the land completely up to date and into tomorrow. Now guests could visit new and updated attractions including Carousel of Progress, Adventure Thru Inner Space, People Mover, Rocket Jets, and Circle-Vision featuring the new America the Beautiful. Guests could also journey into outer space in Flight to the Moon. Now Guests would not only make a lunar trip, but stop in Mission Control to meet a cast of Audio-Animatronics® technicians and their chief, Mr. Morrow (as in Tom Morrow). While Disney created its own missions to the moon, real astronauts walked on the moon for the first time on this historic day in 1969. Disneyland Ambassador Connie Swanson Lane recently shared her vivid memory of that day with D23’s Scott Wolf. 'The Apollo 11 was shown to guests in Tomorrowland on a special screen. It was placed, if memory serves me, at about where the People Mover is. I was taking guests through the Park and planned our arrival in Tomorrowland at the time of the broadcast. I didn’t want my Guests to miss that moment. Here I was in the best of both worlds: Disneyland and Tomorrowland — with a true-life adventure, Apollo 11. It was an electric moment and we all shared the spark.'"

"Disneyland is often called a magic kingdom because
it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,
      designed to appeal to everyone."

      - Walt Disney

"Disneyland is all about turning movies into rides."
      - Michael Eisner

      "It's very symbiotic."
      - Bob Chapek
