  • Disney raises number to be laid off to 32,000

Disney upped the number of people to be laid off to 32,000, mostly from "Parks, Experiences and Products"

In an update from projections announced in September, Disney announced Wednesday that it will lay off 32,000 employees in the first half of 2021, culled primarily from the company’s theme parks division.

In a way, they sort of have no other choice.

On the other hand, if they're going to lay that many people off and thus, cause them serious hardship, I would expect to see all executive bonuses cancelled.

Cutting costs needs apply to everyone no matter what position they have.

Based on last year's numbers of company employees, that would figure to at least 14% of the company being let go.

How the company will fare this Winter, will depend on when/if vaccines are approved and the official distribution plan.

Agreed. I haven't really been following it, but are the bonuses going out? I know they rescinded the pay cut, but haven't heard about bonuses.

I haven't heard anything either but you can bet if bonuses were indeed suspended, we'd hear all about it, so I suspect not.
