  • Top secret opening date prediction?

I'm assuming Disneyland will reopen on July 17, 2021, while Avengers Campus will open on July 18, 2021. Sound familiar? If not, what dates do you think each one will open, respectively?

In no way do I have any idea when they will open, this is just a random guess.
The Never Spoken Dedication at the Opening of Pixar Pier:

The world you have entered was created by The Walt Disney Company and is dedicated to California—not a place on a map, but a
state of mind that exists whenever people seek nostalgia and wonder and imagine, a place where the original California Adventure vision and atmosphere are brought back to life by Pixar's vibrant color palette. We invite you to travel to a bygone era of the early 2000s at California Adventure and explore a land that never was, and always will be.

I gave up predicting anything about Covid months ago. I have been wrong so many times.

LET'S CHANGE TO A FUN TOPIC: IF DCA had been fully open, what should have been done for its 20th anniversary?

Play California music on February 8, 2020

Bring the CALIFORNIA letters back in some form.

A SPECIAL CALIFORNIA DREAM THEMED PRESENTATION OF WORLD OF COLOR

Imagine having the following at the end I would do something starting with storytellers state, show old videos of Disneyland arriving in California. Showcase the construction of Disneyland- part of his California Dream. Also show how his dream lives on with the 2012 renovation construction photos.

Then end World Of Color-A California Celebration with this song:

Please remember that any topic that mentions the current health situation will likely lead to discussion of topics that are controversial. I don't see any problems with trying to guess the reopening date, but please keep the discussion limited to that, and not to reasons why the date might move. I know everyone wants it to happen right away, so I understand the excitement and anticipation.

It's also fine to talk about what DCA would have done if they were open. I'm just asking everyone to please keep the discussion civil, and please avoid controversy.

My previous guesses have been wrong before, but I think Disneyland will open with very limited capacity in July. I really think they could open by June, but it will take quite a bit of time to bring everyone back, order the food they need, and make sure the attractions can operate safely.

July 18, 2021 is my best guess. July 17, 2021 would be a media preview, and the general public with reservations would be admitted on 7/18. I doubt that CA will have any ticketed Halloween events this year, but FL will.

If there's any silver lining to this, the first people to get reservations are going to practically have the park to themselves, at least for the first month or two.

              Just my Opinion
Reservations is going be the way of the future ....for long time......
for most Theme Parks Disneyland /Knott's ect. - it going be like the airlines-
              With standpoint of business
Disney going open what they can , and when they can - with limited capacity
and Operation not going be the same / I also see a higher price as well, for all Admission's
              *Again IMO
The onlysilver lining ,that I can see ,is getting workforce back to work -safely

I think that Disneyland will reopen in the Spring, not Summer. Eventually the state will have to relent and let theme parks reopen, as they have been closed for nearly a year.

It also doesn't help the state of California, that they showed a plausible bias by allowing "smaller theme parks" to reopen before the major theme parks do. This could potentially open the grounds for a lawsuit against the state by any of the major theme parks.

Summer feels most realistic given how slowly (and confusing) the vaccine rollout in CA has been. I also wouldn't be surprised if maybe the park reopening were pushed to later in the year. I think food and drink festivals are a pretty safe bet for Disney and other parks to lean on in the meantime. Expanding more of California Adventure (especially the area between Pixar Pier and Radiator Springs) is perfect for that scenario.

I am going with what I thought back back back in the beginning of closure... Disney opens when schools open. I just have a sense that Disney can’t be open while school children are sitting at home, unable to go to campuses. Disney needs that “in” to push their cause to open the gates.

Are schools opening in LA County..? It’s getting there, but there’s gonna be a helluva time making that happen county-wide before the end of this school year. I’ve always guessed that schools will reopen like this: SCHOOL IS OPEN IN TWO WEEKS! I just thought it would be as sudden as that - no ramp up.... just, WE’RE OPEN NOW, GO TO SCHOOL! And I think a similar thing will happen at Disneyland. I don’t think there’s going to be a four month advanced date. I think it’s gonna happen quickly.

The gray area appears to the summertime. Let’s say if LA County schools are committed to going back for the 2021-22 school year in the fall, then would that give Disney enough ammo to open up.. I’m stuck with that thought.

It should be noted that California's current Covid-19 guidelines for theme parks, do not mention any requirements for vaccines or reaching herd immunity. Meaning the parks could reopen before there are enough vaccines to meet demand.

I still see the company attempting a Spring reopening date, which will most likely receive a mixed reception. Some will be enthused, but others will say its too early to reopen.

Maybe late Spring...but CA just ran out of vaccine for days.

We have a long road to get to Purple tier and Disney has shown they will not go against any laws or regulations. So maybe May...but even then July I think is the earliest

I am going to say June 2nd 2021, They will make it mid-week and after the Holiday to try to make demand a lot lower, and time before the anniversary. I also think they will Hold Avengers Campus Until July possibly a year after the original opening date, Again since the parks capacity will be drastically lower I think they will try to find ways to address demand. Although after more than a year closed the demand will be high regardless.

With the California cases on the steady decline and with Dr. Fauci saying general public vaccinations could be made available as early as April, I think Summer 2021 is looking like a real possibility. With outdoor dining events and shopping in the parks allowed, similar to what's happening on Buena Vista Street and with DCA's upcoming food festival to tie Guests and CMs over until then.

At this point part of me just sort of hopes they could keep the park closed until things can re-open fully in order to avoid them having to put the spacing stickers and install COVID-barriers everywhere in the park, only to then need to remove them all shortly after and leave that sort of ugly scar or reminder all over the parks. But that thinking isn't helpful to all the CMs out of a job who could provide limited dining and shopping options safely and who are currently out of work.

Gonna go with Summer 2021, final answer (spoiler alert: I've been wrong every time before).

My vote is also for a small, limited opening in July 2021, little to no live entertainment until December 2021 at the earliest.

It looks like the trends are starting downward now and I think we may see a sustained downward trend in Covid rates by July (unless the variants take hold and the vax doesn't fight them) but I can't see them giving large gatherings the green light in July. They'll wait a few more months just to be sure.

I think sometime in Autumn, no earlier than Sept. OC and LAC (and most of CA) are nowhere near the levels they need to be to permit large public gatherings. If Disney wants to 'time' the opening with something special I think we may see them open in October with a shorter Hallowe'enTime, but no parties.

Some managers whose departments remain closed, have been temporarily reassigned to other departments/projects. These temporary assignments will last until the end of Spring. So at best we're looking at Summer. But with those unreasonable state guidelines, there really isn't an answer to when Disneyland will reopen.
