My my my. Looks like they’re trying to turn DLH and Paradise Pier into “inside the park” hotels? That’s insane. I can see them renaming and retheming Paradise Pier (they should anyway) but DLH??

IDK, it looks like a mish-mash to me. Too spread around and not cohesive. If they want a 3rd gate, do it properly on one big piece of land or don't do it at all. Don't stick bits and pieces of it here and there throughout the property.
It's early days yet anyway. TDA could be proposing this HUGE expansion when all they really want is that third hotel or the Harbor parking structure. Ask for the moon and settle for a star."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

But I agree with all of your skepticism.
Disney is going be talking to the city about the over all program, that they have in mind
How ever it going take Disney some time to get back on there feet
which is understandable .
IMO
I'm a skeptic
because Disney have so many concept, for this area for last 5 years
It now got to the point of wait and see.
It happen ,when it Happen !Last edited by Eagleman; 03-25-2021, 08:15 PM.Soaring like an EAGLE !

This is way, way down the road. AND...there's no guarantee it will even happen. Didn't the resort lose like 2 billion dollars? BUT...if they are able to do this, I hope they can create a buffer between the resort and the riff raff that currently infest the surrounding area.Last edited by SuperHappyCM; 03-25-2021, 09:04 PM.

I think the drawing they have proposed are just examples of what could happen a dream board if you will, they put in a bit of everything that's possible with bits of whimsy thrown around knowing that it will likely look nothing like this concept when completed. They're going for an approval that covers every type of option in the concept giving them BlueSky flexibility once approved.
Like some have mentioned Disney may have lost a boat load of money but they are also sitting on a bigger boatload and will soon be feeling the Park profits as well as the Disney+/Media and Merch windfalls all at the same time meaning that are in for several years of high maybe record profits as we return to a more normal situation. Now is the time to strike as many businesses and agencies are a bit on their heels and will be more open to radical proposals now more than ever as they want the movement and ability to use it to draw in other business.
My main concern is I hope they are not looking to make a Disney-Lite for some guests as they plan to price out the main 2 parks for the majority.
It will be interesting in the coming years if they get approval to see what the final proposal entails. It will likely be years until they break ground maybe 2026 at the soonest.
Either way looks like DLR will continue to be a construction zone in one way or another for many years and Micechat will have lots to discuss for quite awhile now. lol!

The way the concept art is laid out makes me wonder if Disney's idea of "re-inventing" the theme park experience is to go back to the way things used to be, by creating a sort of experience space interwoven around the older hotels/Downtown Disney where you pay per attraction/experience? Maybe an attempt by Disney to sort of steer locals/Guests who just want to spend a few hours, dine or ride one or two attractions in that direction while keeping the gated parked more focused on tourists/full day Guests?
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out, if at all.

A part of me thinks this is intentionally vague for two reasons: 1) to see what Anaheim is going to say and 2) to see what the public commentary is. The first one is pretty obvious and mandatory, but given how vocal Disneyland fans are, I'm certain they have ears to the ground and are going to at least see what the community is saying. I'm not certain they'll listen, but they definitely want to hear.
I am certainly confused on how they're going to make this work though. Disney Parks are wonderful because they are interwoven and make sense. This isn't Universal Hollywood where you take an elevator to go visit an area of the park, which takes away from the entire experience. If these extensions are bridges, to what looks like an annexed land, it's going to feel disjointed.
Also, how are they planning to get from DCA to this new land? Walking underneath Incredicoaster? LOL
