Rumours of POTC getting axed in favour of a Shanghai clone in the new expansion
Some people are saying that the walkway between Disneyland and the proposed expansion in the concept art looks like it's placed where the current POTC show building sits. This has lead to some wild speculation, but the question is: would they...?
I think though nothing is sacred if you wait long enough, there are certain attraction that will not be going anywhere for at least 20-30 years these are ( but not limited to):
Tiki Room
Jungle Cruise
POTC
HM
DLRR
Sleeping Beauties Castle
Matterhorn
Space Man.
Dumbo
Tea Cups.
Rivers of America
it's a Small World
They may get altered and "plussed" but these imho opinion are the tent pole attractions that are as much of the Disneyland brand as they are major landmarks that are used in the majority of Disneyland marketing.
I think the drawing they have proposed are just examples of what could happen and they put in a bit of everything knowing that it will likely look nothing like the concept but atleast they got approval for every type of item in the concept giving them BlueSky flexibility once approved.

The real question is: why would they? Specifically, why would Bob "Cheapta$tic" Chapek authorize the expenditure of big bucks for a POTC upgrade that would not add a penny to the profit margin of Disneyland -- a theme park that can command maximum crowds without it? (Not to mention an upgrade for an IP which, while popular, is not on the forefront of Disney's marketing & merchandising.)

it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,
designed to appeal to everyone."

Looking very carefully and comparing it to Google maps, the walk way is above/northwest and left/west of the POTC show building. It is more likely the walkway starts behind the train station. My guess through tunnels to go under the train tracks. Just like Main St. or Toon Town.
The renderings appear to be off. Pirates 2nd showbuilding is in the rendering. However, the artist connected it the Indiana Jones building. Unless they plan an maintenance bridge between buildings, this appears to be a mistake.
The more likely location of the path would be the NOS train station. BUT, this does not necessarily means a complete demolition of the station. An overpass could be built over the station OR the station becomes elevated (like Main Street's) and an underpass is built.

They could add a scaled down Shanghai version in the backstage area between the train station, HM, Splash Mt, and Disneyland Dr. I'm estimating an area the size of Indiana Jones showbuilding. Or they can use the original scale and layout but a different theme completely and place it in the expansion area.

Exactly. Disneyland will be jammed for years to come, as long as it’s open and maintained as-is.

If POTC was blocking an entrance to a third gate that could offer additional theme park square footage with a higher ratio of shops/dining/upsells to rides, ala Galaxys Edge, Chapek himself would mount a John Deere and bulldoze POTC to make way.
BUT...fortunately for us, that's not the case in this scenario, as an entrance can easily be had around the POTC.
However, if the movie franchise reboot with Margot Robbie is as successful as the first, I'd expect changes to POTC.
The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. They're not going to replace one of the park's most popular attractions with a walkway. Not to mention Blue Bayou, which generates a significant amount of revenue.

I’m not sure Blue Bayou revenue is “significant”. I mean it makes more money than an average food stand, but serving food without alcohol (i.e., upsells) is not a huge money taker.
That said, while probably not OP’s intent, I feel like this topic is just designed to generate FUD and there’s no productive reason to continue to engage further discussion on it.

I think the day might come very soon where Chapek feels the itch to serve alcohol on sacred Disneyland ground.... and he's going to scratch it. After all, they're serving it over on Galaxy's Edge.

Before the parks' shut down, there had been some online murmuring that Blue Bayou would be offering wine in the near future. Whether that amounts to anything, will have to be seen.

Agreed. And I imagine Blue Bayou will go prix fixe around that time as well, a la Be Our Guest in Florida, for the same reasons.
